Absolutely loved this interview with legend and friend @hbarra . He’s seen so much of the tech era and has a ton of perspective and insight. And @benthompson is one of very few interviewers who understands the space and history deeply enough to ask all the really interesting - and sometimes “sensitive” - questions about strategy, business models and choices made that you really want to know. spotify.link/ywHcItbcmIb

Spotify’s 2023 royalty transparency report is out today. The number of artists generating eg $10k+, $100k+, $1M+ have all nearly tripled over the last 6 years. Which is exciting on its own, and also bodes well for where the ecosystem will be by 2030. loudandclear.byspotify.com
Please check it out if you're interested in product development and AI! We put a lot of love into this 💚
It’s been a whole year since we launched AI DJ! I hope you’ve liked it as much as I have. If you want a little backstory of how it came to be, check out the latest episode of Spotify: A Product Story from @GustavS and team. 🔈 open.spotify.com/episode/0ah…

Spent some time talking through the implications of AI with @mignano recently. Got through a bunch of interesting topics, including the future of product development and design, recommendations and personalization, music and media creation and work - as well as risks and opportunities. Listen and watch the full thing here: open.spotify.com/episode/1LP…
Was really great spending time with @mignano on-air! 🎙️ Got pretty deep into what product development in an AI world means and how we think about it at Spotify. But also touched on a few more philosophical questions around AI and it’s risks and benefits which I rarely get to talk about in interviews.
"The AI is the product." Always a pleasure speaking with @Spotify's co-president/CPO/CTO, @GustavS, who delivered a perfect lesson on the future of AI in this long form conversation. I've had the pleasure of knowing and learning from Gustav for many years, yet even I picked a ton of new information. One thing in particular that struck me was Spotify's new view on how "the AI is now the product". Whereas previously in consumer products, AI was in service of delivering the very best UI for the users. But now, the role of the UI is to feed the most high quality data back into the AI to produce the very best content experience for the user. You can hear Gustav's articulation of this concept in the attached video. We also covered a lot more in this episode, including: How Spotify was one of the original AI consumer products. The impact of AI on content creation moving forward. Gustav's view on what might happen to the Wild West of training data ingestion (and why legislation is likely coming). What happens when cognitive labor gets automated at scale? Why the evolution of empathy in humans may be the key to AI safety and alignment. From this week's episode of Generative Now 👇

Had a super fun conversation with @scottbelsky , @cohentomer and @HarryStebbings on the @twentyminutevc podcast. We talked about what happens with product and design now that AI is the product. open.spotify.com/episode/12s…

This is maybe my favorite Spotify launch the last few years. It’s been a looong time in the making. I’m a huge book fan and I think that audiobooks in an access model can do to reading what the access model did to music and make a lot more people - that may not consider themselves “readers” - discover the beauty and wonder of books! Books are the most condensed and important knowledge that humanity has, more people should have easy access to it! 📖❤️
Today is a big, big day for @Spotify. And for book lovers everywhere. Audiobooks are coming to Spotify Premium! 🎧📚
Been using the Jam feature internally for a while now. Sooo much fun, any room can bootstrap a party in seconds 🪩🕺 Happy to share it with the world 🌍 piped.video/3DYrvRn2Uy0?si=940t…

Podcasters - what if I told you could offer your pod to any listener around the world, in their own local language but still keep it in your own voice? That’s the pilot we’re launching @Spotify! It’s called Voice Translation and using AI, translates podcasts episodes into alternate languages, all in the podcaster’s voice. It’s pretty insane. Take a look and let me know what you think! spoti.fi/VoiceTranslation
I always knew @lexfridman and @StevenBartlett would sound amazing in Spanish too 😊 So glad that we could make it happen 🔥
Do you dream of a world where some of the top podcasts would be spoken in your native language? Well, that’s now possible. We’re excited to pilot Voice Translation, a groundbreaking feature powered by AI that translates podcasts into additional languages—all in the podcaster’s voice. spoti.fi/AIVoiceTranslation
Hope you find this useful! Full talk here: piped.video/watch?v=2eWuYf-a…
If you feel like you still don’t have a handle on the fundamentals of AI/LLMs, you might be interested in a talk @GustavS recently gave to our team. He dives into that how these systems work is actually much simpler than many of us think Full link: spoti.fi/3OdNxqA
