Corruption scandal in Ukraine: NABU and SAP launch major operation targeting energy sector corruption
Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies have uncovered a criminal organization that for years allegedly influenced strategic state enterprises, including Energoatom.
According to NABU, the investigation lasted 15 months, during which detectives collected over a thousand hours of audio recordings documenting connections between officials, intermediaries, and business representatives.
Investigators believe the group built a system of kickbacks and financial control over the energy sector. Raids and arrests are now underway across several regions of Ukraine.
Detectives from NABU also conducted searches at the home of a businessman close to President Zelensky, Ukrainska Pravda reports.
According to the outlet, Tymur Mindich, co-owner of Kvartal 95 Studio and a close associate of Zelensky, left Ukraine on the night of November 10 — just hours before NABU’s search took place.
Ukrainian media, citing MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, also report searches at the homes of the Minister of Justice and former Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko.
