Ask yourself why 'grade inflation' occurs, and whether a different/better method of assessment is necessary.

I worked so hard for all of the classes I received an A in at Wesleyan and MxCC. Wesleyan is known for having some of the most rigorous coursework across the “elite” private universities. This is in contrast to Yale University where I’d always over hear faculty complain about how the donor parents of wealthy children would force grade inflation, curves, and demand unique treatment for them on case by case bases. Basically, at Yale, every one is guaranteed a B based on my understanding of how they were doing curves in their MCDB department at the time. I took exclusively advanced level/graduate level courses at Wesleyan and can say that it takes at least 10-15 hours of work for each class each week + attending lectures/group work to get an A.

"Neither party actually cares about student learning." Meanwhile, the Trump Department of Education is addressing the scandal that is "grade inflation." I hope to see my left-of-center ed reform colleagues give credit where credit is due.
