This is kind of my Martin Luther Ninety-five Theses.
If you know folks at these brands and other major collectors, please share this with them.
🧵 We can 100% align incentives between brands, sports, and collectors, and it will lift the digital space overall, but we need to align incentives.
I’m gonna break this down as simply as possible 👇
1️⃣ Right now, brands & investors are at odds with collectors.
Brands want to keep everything on their own chain (Candy, Dapper, Panini, etc.)
Collectors just want to own what they bought.
Simple as that.
2️⃣ The problem?
Every brand wants to be its own ecosystem.
That’s like if:
Amazon started by only selling its own books 📚
Airbnb started by only renting out its own houses 🏠
Uber started by only letting you ride its own cars 🚗
It doesn’t work. Marketplaces have a gravitational pull.
They consolidate — not fragment.
3️⃣ The real solution →
A one-stop secondary marketplace where all digital sports collectibles can trade freely — across chains, brands, and sports.
That’s when:
⚾️ Candy Ohtanis
🏀 Dapper LeBrons
🏈 Panini Mahomes
all compete side by side, and the market decides what they’re worth.
4️⃣ This would finally:
✅ Align incentives (brands earn royalties on secondary sales instead of hoarding traffic)
✅ Give collectors true self-custody
✅ Create real price discovery
✅ Let digital start repricing toward physicals
5️⃣ Brands, don’t be afraid to open borders 🌍
You’ll make more money through royalties on higher prices.
Collectors, demand self-custody.
It’s the only path that makes sense long-term.
This isn’t about replacing physicals — it’s about unlocking the full potential of digital.
Let’s make it happen. ⚡️
