Voor extra privacy toont Signal standaard je telefoonnummer niet aan mensen met wie je chat. Je kunt een gebruikersnaam aanmaken in Instellingen, zodat mensen contact met je kunnen leggen zonder je telefoonnummer met ze te delen. Meer informatie over gebruikersnamen:

Signal ondersteunt spraak- en video-oproepen en spraakberichten. Groepsoproepen worden ondersteund tot wel 50 personen en we hebben onlangs een aantal verbeteringen toegevoegd, waaronder oproeplinks om snel en gemakkelijk een groepsoproep op te zetten.
Om het makkelijk te maken voor mensen om lid te worden van je Signal-groepschat, kun je een groepslink of QR-code genereren en die vervolgens delen. Klik op de groepsafbeelding om de groepsinstellingen te zien.
Er zijn talloze manieren om Signal naar je eigen gebruik aan te passen. Je kunt luidruchtige chats dempen, oude chats archiveren, belangrijke chats vastzetten en berichten markeren als ongelezen. Vervolgens kun je op ongelezen filteren om alleen die ongelezen berichten te zien.
Je weet waarschijnlijk dat Signal-berichten end-to-end versleuteld zijn, volledig privé tussen jou en de mensen met wie je praat. Maar Signal beschermt veel meer dan dat, zoals je profielinformatie, groepschatsinfo (groepsnaam, ledenlijst, hoe vaak de groep actief is) en meer.
Coming soon: When you add a linked device (Desktop or iPad), bring your whole chat history + last 45 days of media. The transfer process is end-to-end encrypted & completely optional.
