Keep the $ as close to home as possible. Ideally, that means return it to the tax payer in the first place. In reality, at least invest in NYC

All gov entities invest - To earn stable returns and be able to pay retirement benefits. Israel offers attractive returns coupled with growing economy. Its not about supporting politics its capitalism
