What’s stopping a better privacy coin from dethroning ZEC?

I'm sure it could face competition some things are quite hard to replicate though like 8y of PoW distribution, an encrypted txn history, plus clear battle testing of the ZK tech over the years

💯 Privacy is the last remaining gap between real-world and incorruptible onchain economy. Privacy for individuals: @Zcash Privacy for institutions: @ZKsync

Why crypto privacy is important You buy a coffee with crypto. Scan, pay... done! But now that coffee shop has your wallet address. And they can see everything like your balance, spending habits. Even where else you’ve been sending crypto. Imagine handing the barista your bank statement every time you buy a latte. And if their data ever leaks? Your entire financial history could end up in someone else’s hands.

This resonates deeply. Privacy isn't the last frontier. It's the missing foundation. Bitcoin gave us legitimacy. Ethereum gave us programmability. But without privacy, we're building cathedrals on sand. That's why we built @COTInetwork with Garbled Circuits. Not as a feature. As infrastructure. The convergence is here: Institutional capital demands it., Real-world assets require it, Healthcare, Finance, supply chains all need it. Privacy unlocks the next generation of on-chain applications.

Good argument! Each coin might be used for different purposes. Did you research Kaspa, the community-launched cryptocurrency, which solves the Blockchain Trilemma (security, decentralization and scalability) with BlockDAG? What if it solves privacy too? And I believe it will.

Zcash is a psyop; most of the txs are public and therefore it fails as a privacy coin...

great piece...i’m pro privacy but the last 1000x in my opinion is where programmable value meets real economy accrual at global scale. make dollars - check make housing - we're solving this then layer the right privacy so users get usefulness with discretion.

Although privacy was used as a term in the white paper, the explanation goes on to say that it was pseudo anonymous based off of information sharing. I find this positioning of your thesis to be off and more of a narrative build for your own sake of preference. Nice pump though

iiii) security : Bitcoin security halves every four years relative to its mcap. Currently, it takes 50% of 16 billion (0.80% of mcap/2), or 10% of Warren Buffett's fortune, to break through Bitcoin's 2 trillion mcap.

ZK and FHE are pushing privacy forward, no doubt but confidential computing (TEE + verifiable compute) is quietly becoming the bridge between onchain and offchain privacy!! The next 1000x won’t just hide data, it’ll prove it stayed hidden!! 🙌

Chainlink throws its hat in the privacy game
"The privacy properties within CRE will come from a long researched, very well thought through system that is going to address the main problems of how to do private smart contracts on any chain." During @SergeyNazarov's SmartCon keynote, he explains how Chainlink Confidential Compute is bringing privacy to smart contracts across any blockchain, unlocking previously-impossible privacy use cases ↓
