13/ If you're leading or founding a startup, enlighten new team members about the 83(b) election. It's their call, but arming them with the right information is an essential part of strong leadership. Founders and entrepreneurs, how much 💰 has an 83(b) saved you?

12/ The 83(b) election MUST be submitted to the IRS within 30 days of receiving the stock or token grant. Overlooking this deadline negates any tax benefits.

11/ Before wrapping up your fundraising, get a 409A valuation. This ensures you have a defendable value for your startup's equity, essential for 83(b) election compliance.

10/ With taxes in mind, startups should grant employees equity or tokens before raising funds from investors, when the value of each is minimal. By making an 83(b) election, you lock in this low valuation for tax reasons.
