ay- Jackson age 53> CEO of ABL...grew up poor (it was as cold inside as outside, 1 bedroom house in the mountains is where he grew up) ... became a research analyst at Franklin Templeton, then worked at a family office, looked at investing in ABL, then joined as CEO...zero correlation to market, looks at as an option, used to source policies from ABL at the family office, highly regulated at state level,
$14 trillion in life insurance in force, 90% never pay a claim...most people at 80 lapse the policy and stop paying, ABL is an alt asset manager...im the guy that sits that sits in the corner at a party...and guy comes to me and asks me how much do i have left.
Things dont understand about your company that they should
Our data, 20 years of data about when mortalities occur, stage 4 cancer, and die in auto accident...says died in auto accident with 3 months left
Social security benefits to people have died, it happens. Are you motivated to say stop paying me...no pending rush...we have this data and can work with GOVT to potentially sell to the govt.
life and longevity data of US lives.
23 and me, why did they file Chapter 11 ..great data couldnt use...
we are into monetizing data in 3-4 business models
how do we apply life span data...biggest fear of running out of money into retirement
we give consumers probablstic data...and potentially cash flow...target date funds buy 2035 funds...they do this to match lifespans to retirement needs
How do i earn revenue on my life data set
CEO's ABL: timeless lessons
1. nobody cares-dont be a victim, have fortitude-its on you...responsibilty lies w/ you..no excuses...push through
2. culture: growth and comfort are mutually exclusive...its not comfortable, be ready to NOT be comfortable.
Time is fast, but don't rush. Focused on things that matter...speak to individuals at the late stages of life...advice treat every moment with purpose and slow time down by being present in the moment....two years left, hug your kids...engage by being super present. hyper focus on the now.
What makes a great leader
humility in yourself...continue to grow...become suspicious if people really care about you or just nice to you because he is the boss. So surround yourself with people smarter than you.
Investor inquiry...he sometimes says not fast enough..im responding myself.
How do you handle adversity?
Reflect back on adversity. two paths to get there...i go down both paths..until it becomes obvious then go all in. Nothing harder that what i had growing up from what he calls the cookie jar of adversity
