A message from Virginia’s family: “Today, an ordinary American girl from an ordinary American family brought down a British prince with her truth and extraordinary courage." Virginia deserved better, and while she was still alive. Release the Epstein Files.

She said her father raped her. That's not an ordinary American family

It was comments from her grieving brothers so I think some grace is necessary. And sadly, incest and child sex abuse is much more common than people typically realize. Research shows approximately 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 13 boys are sexually abused during childhood.

Nothing about Virginia Giuffre is ordinary, according to her, her sexual abuse started at her home before she was 14 by a family friend.

I agree, but the statement is from her grieving brothers. Her memoir makes it clear she loved them.

Virginia was not an ordinary American family. She was a multimillionaire, earned on suing men! Take that!

That’s false, Helena. Virginia Giuffre was trafficked as a child. Any financial settlements came only after years of fighting the people who exploited her. That’s not “earning money by suing men”—it’s surviving and demanding accountability while still broken and being targeted by your powerful abusers.

The same family that waved her off at the airport, on her travels with Epstein.

In fairness, the statement is from her brothers. They were not responsible for her.

I don’t feel sorry for herI’m Afraid . She didn’t mind trafficking 14 year old girls and was happy to take millions from the cause

She was a child herself when groomed, and coercive control isn’t that black and white. Part of Epstein and Maxwell’s abuse was grooming and training girls to bring more girls. That doesn’t mean they were not harmed. We don’t need to erase the truth about how this system worked: powerful men created it, funded it, protected it, and are still free.

“Ordinary” American girls are sexually abused by their fathers, pimped out to their Dad’s mates, and become high class hookers by the time they’re 17? Really??

Understand the concern but encourage everyone to withhold judgment if possible. The family statement came from her grieving brother and sister in law who have been fiercely advocating for her cause since her death. Virginia had a broken home, and suffered child sexual abuse. But please keep in mind that incest and child sexual abuse is not uncommon, just because it’s vile. Many people have ghosts of their childhood sexual abuse so it’s best to keep that in mind.

She made the choice to do what she did. Perhaps if she made better choices in life she might not have suffered. Life is cruel and teaches us time and time again to make better choices.
