Being trans isn’t a fad.
Being trans isn’t a choice.
Being trans isn’t a crime.
Being trans isn’t about fitting into a box.
People are going to hate us.
People are going to throw insults at us.
People are going to wish us dead.
But we, as a community, also have people who want us to live. People who want us to be courageous, to stand tall, and to fight back against those who dehumanize us—against those who make us out to be villains when we are anything but. We are not the villains of our own stories.
We are the survivors, the dreamers, and the builders of a world that often refuses to see us. Being trans isn’t just about how we look. It isn’t about surgeries, or body parts, or whatever people fixate on when they try to define us. Being trans is about truth. It’s about being authentic to ourselves, even when the world tells us not to be. Our bodies and souls may not match what society expects but they are ours. And in a world that tries to erase us, we choose not to be invisible. We want to be seen as what we truly are: human beings. We love. We hurt. We hope. We fight. And though the world may choose not to understand us, though it may try to shove us back into a box we never belonged in we will not stay silent. We will shout, unapologetically, that we exist That we are worthy of love. That we deserve to live freely, loudly, and proudly. Because being trans is about choosing to live in love love for ourselves, for one another, and for the world that we still believe can change. Even in the face of hate, we choose to be better. We choose to keep going. We choose to be.
