Pennsylvanians deserve to have their voices heard, and the worth of someone’s vote is not determined by how long it takes to be counted.
Currently, our election officials are working through the same process they follow every election.
Our Senate race’s slim margin has drawn attention to this year’s process, but it is going as planned and — no matter how long it takes — is fundamental to our democracy.
As votes are counted, I’m committed to letting the voices of Pennsylvanians be heard and standing up to efforts to silence them.
This stands in stark contrast to national Republicans, who are fighting to throw out the votes of thousands of Pennsylvanians over minor errors.
Right now in Pennsylvania, national Republicans are arguing to disqualify ballots where the voter did everything right, but the poll worker forgot to counter-sign the ballot envelope.
Our hardworking poll workers and election officials are human – and voters should not be penalized for any mistakes they make.
Unfortunately, this democratic process has been subject to repeated right-wing misinformation and allegations of foul play.
I urge the people of Pennsylvania and across the Nation to have patience and allow this constitutional process to play out.
