Margaret Aspinall sums up the feeling of devastated families: “How can an inquest rule that 96 people were unlawfully killed at Hillsborough yet no-one in authority is accountable for those deaths. If David Duckenfield's not responsible, who killed my son?”

Bent Yorkshire coppers and a bent justice system. Absolutely gutted. #JFT96

Margaret Aspinall has the dignity, courage and eloquence that many can only dream of having. A truly inspirational lady.

Absolutely devastated but not surprised. I was lucky enough to be 1 of those that walked out of the Lepping Lane physically unharmed. However for 30 years it’s never left me & always felt guilty for surviving. The mental scars will be with me to my grave. This country is broken.

Superb analysis from David Conn in the Guardian today. Depressing and infuriating and an outrage that seems will never be put right. bit.ly/33rXyal

The government who created a police force that demonised ordinary people... that would be the Tories.

Well basically Keith McGrath 17 who I went to senior school with who hadn’t even started his adult life was unlawfully killed and nobody is responsible? Did you see his mother on the news ? She looks like she hasn’t slept for 30 yrs #wrong

Heartbreaking news & Mrs Aspinall is right, if Duckenfield isn't to blame, who is? The Inquest in 2016 says the 96 were unlawfully killed, so whose fault is it?

The decision is both devastating and predictable. The system was never going to find him guilty under any circumstances #jft96

Fundamental misapprehension. Duckenfield and indeed many others may be responsible in a purely causative sense but not in a criminal sense.

I think it might be something to do with the different burden of proof required in a criminal court.

Why no charge of misleading the public with his lies and witness redactions.

How can this be right? Incredible the fight goes on!

FA put the game at Hillsborough without the right certification then put Liverpool fans in the smaller end.

Duckenfield retired on a police pension in 1991. Not bad for someone who admitted he was guilty of lying in 1989.

Goes far deeper than just him the whole elite are to blame ,but yeah they need to send people down but unfortunately in this country there is very little justice when comes to taking on the elite, youtube documentary ripple effect watch

As a Nottingham Forest supporter I stand with the 96 and all those affected by the tragedy of Hillsborough and I condemn the cowardly decision and lack of accountability from the authorities.
