It’s an honor to lead this talented team through the next stage of Boundless’s evolution. I’ve built and scaled engineering orgs at Amazon, Lyft, Coinbase and Ava Labs, but what we are building here is something rarer: the opportunity to permanently raise the ceiling on what blockchains can do and what the internet can be. Some personal news: After 2 incredible years at @RiscZero, taking it from stealth to an industry leader, establishing zkVMs as a category, and setting the org on a path to success, I am stepping away from my role. Time for a brief break to recharge before the next adventure! When I joined R0, zkVMs were seen as either impossible, too slow, or at least decades away from being a practical reality. But we proved otherwise! General-purpose technology has a superpower of enabling a wide swath of use cases all while ensuring a rapid go-to-market. It's been incredibly fulfilling to lead the charge in making zkVMs the industry standard — shifting the blockchain world from computation scarcity to abundance. It’s been an honor to lead strategy and growth at R0, building a badass teams across BD, Dev Rel, Marketing, and Solutions Eng. The most exciting part was collaborating with partners such as Optimism, EF, Eigenlayer, Taiko, Celestia, Hashflow, Citrea who are pushing the boundaries of ZK. From efforts to enshrine ethereum to enabling hybrid zk optimistic rollups, from novel use cases like provable exchanges and offchain slashing mechanisms to bringing ZK to Bitcoin, glad to have worked on pioneering new use cases. Thanks to the founders (@BruestleJeremy, @FrankLaub_R0) & the very talented team (too many to tag, you know who you are), as well as the amazing partners I had the privilege of working with from ideation to launch. Big shoutout to the board and investors who believed in us from the start. I’ll be cheering R0 on from the sidelines! 8 years in the crypto = a lifetime! I stumbled onto Bitcoin during my tradfi days when I attended a talk by the Winklevoss twins at an ETF conference in 2015. I fell down the rabbithole in 2016 when India went through demonenitzation and have never looked back. From the early days in the halls of MIT, planning the Bitcoin Expo, to working on infra projects in decentralized storage and ZK and everything in between, its been a rollercoaster. What drew me to this space was its ability to challenge the status quo, change the power structures, reimagine economic dynamics, and return sovereignty to individuals. We have only scratched the surface. The bold philosophies, the cutting-edge innovations, the absolute degen ideas, the talent, and the friends I make along the way – that’s what I am here for!  As for what’s next – Definitely staying in crypto but for now taking a brief break, spending time with my little munchkin, and focusing on my side projects (Komorebi, OP Governance, WiB, Sia Foundation Grants). I am open to advisory roles in the meantime. I love the confluence of tech & real-world adoption and I get excited by the challenge of finding product market fit, taking new ideas to market, and fueling the adoption flywheel. Berry Important Personal Update tldr: I’ve joined @RiscZero to launch @boundless_xyz because I am most bullish zk, this team and this product. Why? Us blockchain people are so used to our limitations: UX, infra, programming languages and retail games. We're constantly looking for ways to break into "mainstream" even clinging onto AI and tokenizing news to not be left behind. We are not where I thought we’d go, back in 2016. I was a veterinarian then looking to be the change I wanted to see: more care, more flourishing, more freedom, you know the drill. I found crypto to be the potential backend of a more independent future, one that spotlights the collective and makes humanity progress faster. Leading with financial use cases as one of our biggest pain points. After building startups in food production and social media, I found my team at Guild. We set out to scale onchain communities through automation. Amazing few years growing the team, product, userbase and helping hundreds of teams strategize their audiences. The need for more impact pushed me toward intents and DeFi automations. Wasn't enough. I knew I needed to go deeper in the stack. I took 3 months to research, talked with 35+, for 100+ hrs. Teams building L1s, rollups, Alt-VMs, infra, pre-TGE, post-TGE and their VCs. Makes you hopeful to meet this much expertise. I was bullish on protocols that are here for longer than a cycle, bringing something new, reimagining what we can have and changing the paradigm. I am bullish ZK. It's fundamental goal is to scale blockchain capacity and ensure privacy. It's modularizing execution, which means we can do insane amounts more actions with the chains. Look at what's happening with AI, intents and automations and tell me we are not going to fill every piece of "free" computation we have. Humanity will need infinite compute, we aren’t even close to having enough. Every choice led me to Risc Zero and Boundless. This team charmed me with their consistency, uncompromising quality and exceptional expertise, from building tech that transformed the industry (first general purpose zkVM) to scaling teams to hundreds. They're researchers, teachers, and cryptographers from every big company you'd want to see, yet wayyy too humble about their achievements. I have joined to launch Boundless. It’s not a chain, it's a universal protocol making unlimited blockchain computation possible. It scales existing solutions through smart contracts and off-chain computation, with a marketplace at its core that makes computational power as accessible as an API call.. With Boundless we're turning scarcity into abundance, transforming blockchain's biggest limit into its solution. Berryfiable compute is THE next big thing.
