Instead, Democrats made healthcare more 'affordable' by creating massive taxpayer-paid subsidies. And then they passed subsidies on top of subsidies. Then more. Then they demanded that the extra subsidies be extended or they would shut down the government, which they have done.
Democrat Senator Peter Welch on Obamacare: "We did fail to bring down the cost of healthcare."

When McCain voted to keep Obamacare and Republicans dropped any pretense of wanting to repeal it, they consigned the damn thing, too. There is no proposal whatsoever from the GOP to replace it to this day.

Subsidies are just the government saying, “We’ll fix the price... with your money.” If healthcare actually became affordable, subsidies wouldn’t be needed in the first place. Layering on new subsidies every year is like giving someone painkillers for a broken leg you never set. The system isn’t “solved.” It’s just artificially propped up for as long as people tolerate the bill.

Spot on, Byron. Democrats' "affordable" care is just endless taxpayer bailouts and shutdown drama. Time for real fixes that put families first.

Health care is so expensive because, like higher education, the government subsidies have inflated demand. At the same time the government is restricting the supply of doctors further driving up costs. A double whammy.
Even though United Healthcare is substantially down this year, over the lifetime of the stock, it has increased five orders of magnitude. It couldn't have happened without government support.

The ACA also has a 3.8% Net Investment Income Tax on interest, dividends and cap gains, that kicks in when your AGI exceeds $200,000 (single) and $250,000 (married). These thresholds haven't adjusted for inflation since 2013. I call it the OUST — Obama's Unaffordable Stealth Tax.

And they will do it again next year!

I just asked @grok to list Ineffective Government Programs that got terminated in recent history. Most were replaced with a newer version but most notable was the Fast & Furious gun-running program😏 x.com/i/grok/share/r9PEHjcrS…

Everybody is getting in on the subsidy action.

The biggest scandal is how we are subsidizing government pensioner’s healthcare. Probably unions as well. People retiring at 55 and drawing a 6 figure pension are having their health insurance subsidized by the government. See Chicago.

It was always going to fail. Socialist programs never work. Our government needs to get out of the healthcare business.

Yes! Democrats also blame Republicans for all of what you wrote.

It’s a way to mask the disaster that is Obamacare -

Affordable healthcare was never the goal of Obamacare. The goal was the government control of a massive chunk of the economy, control over our personal health autonomy and a piece of the puzzle to collapse the economy to pave their wet dreams for a socialist takeover

It was a feature not a bug. They knew exactly what they were doing. And now they want to dump this mess with the GOP and the taxpayers.

A suitable name for the senator 😀.
Subsidies for the last DEM pushed COVID ACA extension does NOT expire until the end of CY (DEC 31st). But DEMs shut down GOV spending 3 months earlier on 1 OCT. Stopping most all funding to include paychecks of FED employees & Contractors, plus grossly escalating SNAP Recipients. 😖🇺🇸🙏

Dems ALONE passed Obamacare - the Affordable Care Act It didn't make it more affordable. It drove up costs The Dems then passed enhanced subsidies during COVID to hide the increasing costs & the Dems made the enhanced subsidies temporary, expiring now. This is all on the Dems.

All by design. Obamacare is a poison pill that is designed to destroy private health insurance. Its all supposed to blow up and they would have has single payer . catastrophic for sure , but they were caught off guard with Trumps 3 triumphs to win the presidency.

And they hide all this in the CR’s that they keep passing, so there is no debate and no one notices what they have been doing. This CR madness needs to stop and proper budgets and debates re-instated. They need to do their job as a deliberative body. Full stop.

Democrats cry foul over subsidies given to @Tesla and @SpaceX because of @elonmusk, but will throw billions at healthcare insurers. The hypocrisy is off the charts.
