It’s a real shame that in matters as sensitive as national security and international diplomacy, the loudest response is coming from a former militant, not from the government or credible state institutions.
This alone reflects the deep failure of Nigeria’s leadership structure, where individuals with violent pasts now fill the vacuum left by weak governance, poor communication, and the absence of coordinated national direction.
When ex–militant figures like Asari Dokubo become the unofficial voice of national defense, it doesn’t project strength it exposes how fragile our institutions have become.
A strong nation doesn’t need militants to speak for it. It needs responsible leadership, a clear foreign policy voice, and the moral authority that comes only from credibility and competence.
Nigeria deserves better representation than emotional outbursts and empty threats ..
Asari Dokubo Warns Trump: ‘Nigeria Will Be the Grav+yard of Any US Invasion’
Former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, has issued a stern warning to United States President Donald Trump, cautioning him against making good on his alleged thr+at to launch a military incursion into Nigeria over claims of widespread Christian pers+cution.
In a viral video shared via Facebook, the ex-leader of the Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force (NDPVF) vowed that any American troops sent to Nigeria would meet fierce resistance.
According to him, Nigeria would become “the grav+yard” of Trump and any invading US forces. “Let Trump come with his America, they will all d+e,” Asari declared passionately.
“This l¥natic wants to annex Canada, wants Iceland, wants to k+ll the president of Venezuela and the Supreme Leader of Iran. America is a sick country that elects m@dmen as leaders.”
The former warlord accused Trump of hypocrisy, saying the US ignored several humanitarian crises around the world while choosing to target Nigeria.
“He can’t see the gen%cide in Congo, Gaza, or Sudan, but he’s talking about gen%cide against Christians in Nigeria,” he said. “If you come here, you’ll d+e here. Nigeria will be your grav+yard.”
Asari, who described himself as a Muslim raised among non-Muslims, also dismissed the idea that the k+llings in Nigeria are purely religious, insisting that both Muslims and Christians are victims of the ongoing viol+nce.
He concluded by warning that unlike others who merely talk, he and his allies are ready to act if Nigeria’s sovereignty is thr+atened.
