This is Oslo’s new PUBLIC LIBRARY. It’s unbelievable. Completely free, open to everyone until 10pm every day. There is a wine bar. Views to die for. All the books.

It’s full of study spaces and reading nooks, places you can eat your lunch & charge your phone. Borrow books, music, films, etc.

Liverpool’s library is spectacular and a great public space- the old and the new. You can also gaze on Audubon’s ‘Birds of America’ £7-8 million if you’d like to buy!

Christchurch NZ has a similar library. One of the best things to come out of the earthquakes . Books, hang out sudden, maker spaces, cafes, a rooftop garden...#turanga

This is the library I grew up in: the PA State Library in Harrisburg. A forest of books.

In cold countries, the importance of big, open well lit indoor spaces cannot be stressed enough.

Plus Norway has an entirely sensible arrangement with the EU with none of the problems the UK has. They were driven by pragmatism not Brexit dogma.

Here’s the Dokk1 library in Aarhus, Denmark, also quite nice

Lovely. I’d like to give a shout out for Scotland’s Dunfermline & Carnegie library/gallery/museum/cafe much much smaller of course but the same features (shuts earlier) & it is also an architectural gem, sitting next to the Cathedral. richardmurphyarchitects.com/…

This is the public library here in Aarhus, Denmark. Also completely free, full of study spaces and reading nooks, and a beautiful sea view.

Looks lovely. If you're ever in Amsterdam, they have a very similar set-up there.

It seems to a good rule of thumb that the nicer the library building and accessories, the worse the book collection.

Amsterdam's is fantastic, too, in similar ways. And on a much smaller scale Southwark's Canada Water... google.com/search?q=canada+w…

Love it. The Opera, just in front, is pretty nice too, and there are a couple of nice places to eat and drink by the station or Bjørvika plus the bathing areas and saunas by the fjord. OSL🖤

Super cool space-

Yeah it looks cool. But it's not a patch on Dublin central library. The décor is a shabby chic mash-up of carpeted doctor's waiting room with your old school library for nostalgia's sake. Few computer relics thrown in for vintage appeal too.

This is one public library in Vancouver, no wine bar but still stunning. I love the open space and use of light which is crucial in a cold country with low light like Vancouver where it invariably rains.
