CANADIANS ARE CONCERNED FOR THEIR SAFETY
It is not the Flu they are worried about - Message from the Fringe Farmers Nov 8th Universal Ostrich Farm
As a concerned Canadian citizen, I have a few questions I'd like to ask after the culling of the ostriches at the Universal Ostrich Farm. Based on the assurance of the CFIA, RCMP, and
The Supreme Court, that these birds were indeed highly infectious, and were spreading the H5N1 virus...
...will the RCMP officers that served at the farm going to be required to be quarantined and kept out of service for the entire virus shedding cycle?
Will they be required to have their throats swabbed and blood samples taken and tested?
After all, do we not have images of officers shoveling the hay to repair their roads on a neighboring farm, and picking up and sharing feathers from the hot zone with visitors?
What about their uniforms, boots, and personal tools? Will they be disposed of? And if so, how? Incineration?
And what about the vehicles and equipment that were used at the farm?
After all, from what I understand, they used the same flat deck to deliver their lunches that they did to haul off contaminated hay, did they not?
That seems terribly risky. How will everything be decontaminated? And how exactly would that be done? Soap and water? That doesn't seem a likely scenario.
It all seems to be a herculean task. Will the taxpayers be footing the bill?
Further, what are our rights regarding interaction with the RCMP moving forward?
Should we be pulled over for an infraction of some sort, would it be within our rights to lock our doors and keep our windows up and ask for the officer's name and badge number?
What about proof that said officer was not at the farm? How will they provide such proof?
And if they refuse to provide that proof, or if they were indeed at the farm and have not been quarantined and decontaminated, is it then within our rights to ask for another officer?
God forbid, I am in a minor car accident, and asked to get into a contaminated police car while I wait for the ambulance!
Honestly, what exactly are our rights as Canadians?
And I do wonder, how is it possible that they were able to have RCMP coming and going from the hot zone at the farm, to Vernon hotels and restaurants etc., without first being decontaminated?
Perhaps the RCMP and CFIA have antibodies? How do we collect those?
After all, isn't that what this is all about? Keeping Canadian citizens safe?
