Who will be the main characters in The Big Short 2?

On a deeper level, general intelligence is not best understood as economic value generation, but as something more foundational: the ability to make sense of the world and to model it, in the service of control. It’s the ability to conquer the universe. OpenAI won’t tell you that

Why’s everyone focusing on the lawyers in the Musk v. Altman lawsuit? That’s the least important part of this whole thing.
The lawyers were having a great time...🫢 (From Ilya Sutskever's deposition in Musk vs. Altman's lawsuit)
How about reading or writing? Have you ever read a note, a paper, a book in a dream? Have you ever written anything in a dream?
There’s a reason you ain’t ever used your phone in a dream

The best way to learn to work with AI is through real-world experimentation. Over time, your theory of mind adapts to model the AI’s behavior, and you start to intuitively optimize how you collaborate with it.

Saddest timeline for 3I/ATLAS: a contact probe sent by a dead civilization, arriving to meet another dead civilization on Mars.

To really understand a concept, you have to "invent" it yourself in some capacity. Understanding doesn't come from passive content consumption. It is always self-built. It is an active, high-agency, self-directed process of creating and debugging your own mental models.
Captured last night- probably the coolest comet shot I've ever gotten. I've never seen such a dynamic tail on a come. Incredible active, and moving quickly, which makes photographing it a challenge. See how it moves in the reply.

Agreed, but I’ve always liked Enterprise for that sense of raw exploration. It’s the first ship, first crew, first mission, all before the Federation’s safety net. None of the other series can really capture that early-frontier feeling.

Everyone who’s seriously thought about the Fermi Paradox knows, deep down, the Dark Forest is the only resolution. That’s why the idea of 3I/ATLAS as an alien device unsettles people so much.

We need an official name for not-vibe-coding. My top candidates so far: · boomer coding · chewgy coding · trad coding · Coding with capital C Suggestions are welcome.

It’s happening: I heard for the first time someone mentioning Claude in a cafe, in Bucharest, Romania. As expected, it’s a technically inclined person, and they’re explaining how you give it access to your computer and so on. I do hear once in a while mentions of ChatGPT, too.

A bubble burst could severely delay AI progress. Funding and confidence would collapse, and recovery could take decades. Whether this leads to another AI winter or a sustainable future now rests in Big Token’s hands.
The reason it is so important for everyone to keep pretending that AGI is definitely right around the corner is that there is now over $1T of investment riding on this belief (either already expended, or committed) Current (and recent past) capex cannot be justified by current use cases and technology (currently spending $10-15 to make $1). To ever be in the black you'd need dramatically better tech/applications, and you'd need them fast -- before current datacenters depreciate, which is a 3-5 years timescale

Elon and Mars are the new George R.R. Martin and The Winds of Winter. They both promise they’ll do it, but right now they have other projects they want to do.

Software Engineers are not paid for writing code. They’re paid for solving problems. The faster you accept this, the better your life and career will be.
