Some valuable context from a guy who was actually “in the room” @nspector4
This university employee should really stop pretending to be an expert on the Charter and the notwithstanding clause. There’s no such thing as a “Lougheed standard.” The intellectual dishonesty is breathtaking.

Things @CTVNews doesn’t bother telling readers. Could it be the grift they receive from the Liberal government?
Replying to @CTVNews
A Liberal is a Liberal is a Liberal. Sharan Kaur is a Liberal. And @CTVNews promoting her, makes you a Liberal also No wonder I stop watch CTV News years ago.

Liberal insiders writing about internal conservative stuff is peak canadian media
Sharan Kaur: Inside the Conservative Party’s culture of fear ctvnews.ca/politics/article/…
I appreciate that Ottawa reporters need to have political sources, and the floor crossing rumours and story are very valid chases, as was the Trudeau ‘caucus revolt’ — in this case next level reporting though, is considering whether the PM timed this successfully to distract on budget. Look when Politico scoop came out. Pretty nifty.

What’s @CTVNews policy on running pieces written by GPT?
This entire op-ed from irrelevant former Liberal staffer @msSharanKaur reads like AI, so I scanned it with @AIoriginality, and, well… they seem “100% Confident That’s AI”. Can’t say I’m surprised 🤷🏾 Did any editors at @CTVNews bother checking???? Do they even care?
They will likely soften the impact of the imminent credit downgrade in Canada’s credit worthiness
Have you ever seen a bigger campaign from our media to keep Canadians distracted from the abysmal budget?

Me? I’m guessing d’Entremont maybe experiences things differently. Most media - the one below excepted - appear to take him at face value though. I mean, the guy’s word is good, right?

My biggest complaint about the Carney Liberals is they aren't living up to their own promise to move fast and get things done.
Agree with this take from Matt Gurney (and not just because I'm cited in it). There's a surprising lack of urgency from the federal government on any file, particularly when compared to the standard they set out for themselves on the campaign. Read here: readtheline.ca/p/matt-gurney…
Facts: Canada emits 1.32% of total global emissions Finance Dept: net-zero will “require between $125B and $140B in investment every yr." More than total Federal Health and Social Transfers. This range appears on Canada’s formal UN climate filing. Why? Christia Freeland "“Even if all Canadians stopped emitting carbon, we wouldn’t move the dial.”
There’s a global race to net-zero by 2050. It’s time for Canada to compete — and win. The Climate Competitiveness Strategy will ensure we meet the world's growing demand for low-carbon energy while keeping our environment clean and economy sustainable. Budget 2025 is our plan to build the strongest economy in the G7.

The floor-crossing headlines are a smokescreen. Buried in Mark Carney’s own budget: Investment projected to keep falling Inflation & costs still rising Canadians told to “sacrifice more” Canadians expect to SACRIFICE until there is nothing left to give
It’s what happens when a public broadcaster picks sides and becomes driven by ideology rather than the pursuit of truth. We see it everyday in Canada too.
.@bbc seems to be falling apart, with multiple stories about terrible or non-existent reporting about social issued scrosd various news departments It's a sad day when a formerly revered, trusted news organization falls into disrepute. That would never happen in Canada, right?

I've seen some journalistic outlets openly admitting they use Grok to do calculations. This is very, very bad. Grok, for example, can be used to look for sources, but then you need to verify those primary sources. No one in journalism should be using AI to calculate or write.

So many people are coming out of university with degrees after using AI to write their assignments. Think about that. Never before has it been clearer that university is just credentialism. If you have the money and the time, you can pay for the certificate without the effort.

The last time I checked, most newsrooms had policies against plagiarism and using AI to write articles. Whether they enforce them or not is a whole other story. As a former professor, I can tell you this is going to become more and more frequent.
