It’s been 10 years of the First Nations Leadership Gathering — and this year’s was the largest yet. This week, more than 1200 meetings took place between First Nations the provincial government. It’s an opportunity to listen, learn and find ways to make a meaningful difference.

David, These posts shoudl be a lesson. The comments are greater than the likes, every time. That's for a reason. You talk about listening, but you aren't listening. Our economy is in trouble Housing is a major issue for Canadians Drugs and crime are a major issue for all of us You're focused on indigenous rights and negotiating settlements behind closed doors more than you are listening to every day British Columbian's who make up 98%, or more, of your constituents. When will you listen to us. When will you start to address these issues.

@Grok How many slaves did First Nations in BC own prior to British colonists making their slave trade illegal?

My 8yr old son came home from school extremely concerned that a Vietnam Veteran had to sit at his schools remembrance day assembly and listen to a land acknowledgement. That man served from 67-74 and watched his buddies never make it home. Shame on this government for pushing this onto our children and our hero’s.

Maybe you need to listen to those other 90% of British Columbians once in awhile

BC needs to abolish party system. Taxes should be spent on hiring competence direct to roles.

The best change we can do is just let them be. Stop treating them as special or like kids.

About 1.4 million British Columbian home owners would like to have a word with you.

End the draconian communist style reservation system, allow the Indians to own land and have property rights. Cut off the corrupt chiefs that steal from their own people. It's time the Indians make it on their own like the rest of us no more hand outs no more special rules.

What about the 94% of us who don't have hereditary privilege? Have you ever thought to consult with us on these matters? You know, the people who pay for everything?

Interesting that more than 90% of your messaging is around FN. What about the rest of the provincial residents?

Of course they are having all those meetings, it is a tax payer paid vacation, get away, stay at the best hotels, eat good food, etc. I have heard all about those paid vacations.

Listen, learn and find new ways to hand out billions of our tax dollars, in a way that will not make a meaningful difference.

The liquidation of peoples homes was a brilliant method to redistribute middle class wealth without the need for pesky legislation. Stalin would be proud.

Eby out here about to break up Canada before Quebec does - didn’t expect a “they were here first” out of a premier

What do these leaders of First Nations do with all the money they get? Why are the First Nations people in B.C. still suffering from the need of basic services?
