The reason all these progressive mouthpieces like The Guardian, John Simpson, Ed Davey, Emily Maitlis, Adam Boulton, Emily Thornberry et al. are having meltdowns about the criticism of the BBC being accused of bias, and calling it a “coordinated attack”, is because they are so marinated in globalist dogma and progressivism they don’t even realise their worldview is flawed and biased.
The Guardian say “each criticism of BBC coverage comes from the anti-progressive culture-war playbook”. Implicit in the statement is that progressivism is the truth. To be progressive is to be unbiased. To be anti-progressive is to be not true.
They see the BBC as a “beacon of truth”, when it is demonstrably a beacon of progressive bias.
And those complaining that other media outlets like The Telegraph or GB News are biased ignore the fact that those media groups don’t purport to be unbiased, as the BBC do and have a responsibility to be. GB News would never have existed if the BBC had been unbiased.
A further insult is that the British people are forced to fund the BBC, unlike those other outlets.
But Matthew Syed paints a bleak picture in his Times piece of the problem facing Samir Shah and the BBC. 75% of establishment institutions are staffed by progressives, who’s ideology is only shared by 13% of the public.
So of the 20k+ BBC staff, likely 15k+ are progressive.
Good luck trying to reform that behemoth.
