Hey all - gonna open up about the last few days on here for me, and some of my thoughts for the future. 馃У
Also - just wanted to thank those who reached out. Thankful to be part of a wonderful community here in Pittsburgh/Allegheny.
It's not much of a secret that this election broke me. Yinz saw me go all out when I could, helping everyone get across the finish line - only to see the country and state take a sharp right turn because of the economy and border. PA Dems got shellacked across the board.
I slowly started to spiral over the last few days. My mood worsened. I was angry. I was scared. Scared for me and my friends.
I checked in on friends first. Made sure everyone was ok before I was. I put myself last in the check-ins - will try not make that mistake again.
My, uh... Green Party tweet re: the US Senate race was tweeted in anger, was made at the height of it.
Shortly after I tangled w/ 2 others in the replies re: the tweet, I started to spiral more. I felt horrible.
I suffered a mental breakdown. I don't know how long it lasted.
Probably at least 30 min.
A few close friends (god bless them) held me up over the weekend. Slowly recuperated + still healing a bit now. Taking the time to process this cycle, and trying to think of a new way forward.
So yeah! That was me the last few days. But I'm ok, promise
Regarding the results of this election - it's very clear that we have some work to do. We won't have the answers straight out of the gate. We may have some pieces of the puzzle but not the full solution yet. Once we come back w/ clear minds, I'm sure the solution will come to us!
I'll say the same thing that many others, including my friends have been saying: if someone says they have a solution, they're BSing you. They likely don't know either. They don't have a real plan.
Or, a concept of a plan, if you will. 馃槈
We will have to meet folks to where they are. That much is clear.
My mom said this last week - keep in mind she's not politically engaged - she said this: "The money moves the people papa, no matter what."
I have to give her credit for that one, lol.
The economy, cost of living, the border, seem to be big pieces of the puzzle - it's what we lost on given the data we're seeing APM.
So now that we know what went wrong, we can start anew.
The Harris-Walz campaign logo sticks with me.
"A New Way Forward"
The Vice President and Governor Walz may not have been able to craft that path for us - but for those of us who ARE active, especially locally - this we can do.
We can absolutely make a New Way Forward. We can recruit good people to run for local office, recruit people to get involved, build our way back, and reset the Democratic Party's image.
It won't be easy - it's gonna take a while. But it's not impossible.
"Yes We Can"
Hell, I sure ain't going anywhere. My hard work was not for nothing. I helped hold the line in Allegheny. I've made so many new friends and connections this past year. I've come a long way from 2022/23.
Mind you, I started getting involved in '23... and now I'm well respected in the area for what I'm doing/did this cycle + past ones. I've come so far, I sure as hell am not gonna give up now.
So yeah - I'm looking forward to the next few cycles + the adventures they hold for me.
I will say this again:
I love you all.
I don't know what's gonna happen in the next 4 years... but I know it is gonna a long long ride.
But I do know this: whatever happens, we all need to stick together. Help each other. Care for one another.
I'm with you all until the end.
We did not go down without a fight - that is also clear. The dust has settled, + we are still here. We can still fight.
I won't lie - things look bleak at 1st glance - but if Trump + his cronies think that we'll just take his reactionary policies - they've got another thing comin
I will forever be proud of volunteering my heart out. I will forever be proud to be a Dem, and proud to have supported our candidates, especially Kamala Harris and our local downballot Dems. Forever.
Here in Allegheny County, there are a few good outlets for participation - @PghCollegeDems, @YoungDems_AGH, @cmu_dems, to name a few. Get involved!

So yeah - I'm not going anywhere. I'm staying in beautiful Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Our work has only begun. And once we all take the time to recover, clear our minds, and set our sights forward, I'm ready to get back to work. We've got elections next year!
Mayor, city council, school board, judges, etc. That's the bulk of it. It may not seem important at first, but there's alot these guys can do for you!
If there's anything that I've learned in my (short) time in politics, all politics is local. You start small + work your way up.
