Yes because ChatGPT is working so well with it. Siri often times nowadays seems to prefer to use ChatGPT rather than respond to certain queries itself. “Would you like me to use ChatGPT to answer that?” No. “Ok then.” Siri promptly stops listening.

Incorrect. Go read Gurman’s article again. Google is helping train a model, likely taking advantage of all the training data they obtained from Gemini users. Apple’s not using Gemini, nor does this in any way supplant Apple’s own models that power Apple Intelligence.
