On 9 November, EU and CELAC leaders met for the 4th Summit in Santa Marta, Colombia. The Summit joint declaration strengthens the bi-regional relationship and confirms we stand for multilateralism and international law. Leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the green, digital and social transitions, as well as enhanced cooperation to improve citizen security, fight against organised crime and strengthening care systems. The EU-Latin America and Caribbean bi-regional cooperation is much more than just a summit. The launch of a $1.15 billion financing line by the @EIB for transmission and distribution projects, as well as renewable energy initiatives across Central America, clearly demonstrates the impact of our cooperation on shared priorities. Those who don't believe in science should at least acknowledge reality, as seen in the destruction caused by Hurricane Melissa. Today I had a meeting with @AminaJMohammed - UN Deputy Secretary-General at the World Social Summit. We discussed EU’s commitment to the 2030 Agenda and to the implementation of the Doha Declaration, focusing on education, skills, decent work, poverty eradication and social inclusion. It is essential to keep the momentum and deliver social justice worldwide.
