You claim "East Turkestan" popped up like a bad sequel in the 1860s with Yaqub Beg's decisive move? Cute story, but even your own government's white papers beg to differ—they pin the term's origins to the early 19th century, when the Khanate of Kokand tossed it around to justify their East Turkestan joyrides. And that's just the appetizer.
Dig into European languages (you know, those pesky outsiders you love to blame), and "East Turkestan" was already strutting its stuff as early as 1805, courtesy of Russian explorer Timkovsky, who used it for the Tarim Basin. By 1829, sinologist Nikita Bichurin was pushing it as a replacement for "Chinese Turkestan" in maps and manuscripts. That's over 140 years before the People's Republic of China even blew out from gutter oil in 1949!
Speaking of which, the PRC is barely 75 years old as of now, yet the term East Turkestan predates your entire regime by generations. Next time you lecture on history, maybe crack open a book older than your grandpa. Or better yet, let's rename Beijing "West Mongolia" for fun—after all, the Mongols had dibs first, right? 😏
I bet 99.99% of those idiots who frequently use the term "East Turkestan" don't know where it comes from. These idiots believe that there was a kingdom in history called "East Turkestan" actually existed in Xinjiang. But it never did.
Xinjiang believed in Buddhism before the 10th century AD. Starting from the 10th century, due to the decline of the Chinese Tang Dynasty, the Arab Empire gradually invaded Xinjiang and forced local residents to practice Islam. At that time, some Islamic countries were built in Xinjiang, but there was no country called East Turkestan.
In the 13th century, the Mongols conquered Xinjiang and ruled the land until the 18th century. In 1755, the Qing Dynasty of China defeated the Dzungar Khanate established by the Mongols and reclaimed the land, renaming it Xinjiang.
The term "East Turkestan" actually originated from the Aguba invasion in the 1860s. Agubai is a general in present-day Kazakhstan whose country was occupied by Russia. They fled to Xinjiang, where Agubai established a regime due to the Qing Dynasty's busy handling of the Taiping Rebellion.
This regime declared allegiance to the Ottoman Empire in name, essentially to obtain weapons and financial support from the Ottoman Empire. The name of this regime was "Zhezhar Khanate", but at that time the Ottoman Empire referred to it as "East Turkestan" for convenience. It existed for only 13 years before being eliminated by the Qing Dynasty.
When idiots talk about 'East Turkestan', learn some history.
