Ever wonder why some people keep failing upward?
You know the type. Totally incompetent in their role, screwing up files, alienating the team, missing deadlines. Instead of getting fired, their boss "promotes" them to another division just to ship the problem elsewhere.
The lateral "kick upstairs" to get rid of dead weight, without the hassle of discipline. It's called the "Peter Principle". (look it up)
Nowhere is this more common than in the RCMP.
Decades of reports slam their promotion system for rewarding the wrong people. No real leadership training, no merit-based checks, just "time served" and bilingual points pushing screwups into higher ranks.
The result? We've all seen it. Toxic culture, harassment scandals, botched mass-shooting responses, and senior leaders who couldn't manage a lemonade stand.
The Peter Principle on steroids: everyone rises to their level of incompetence... then gets transferred to spread the misery nationwide.
Canada deserves better than a national police force that recycles failure.
ROUND II - One time wasn't enough, the female PLT tried it with me a second time yesterday.
It's not ok for the PLT to be the one antagonizing people.
Do you think this was incompetence or maliciousness?
Judging by what I've seen, I'm going to lean towards the latter.
