From the bodycam footage, the daughter was initially cited for reckless driving, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, and driving on a suspended license, while the father (Bill Walker, a former Arkansas state senator) was briefly detained for obstruction after interfering with officers and resisting commands during a vehicle inventory search and tow attempt. Another male family associate was also detained during the scuffle. However, after the father called the police chief (who then involved or informed the mayor), the chief arrived on scene and ordered all citations voided, the tow canceled, and everyone released without further action. No formal charges were ultimately filed against anyone. The father called the mayor (and police chief) during the confrontation to leverage his personal connections and political influence in an attempt to halt the police proceedings, get his daughter released, and prevent the vehicle impoundment or any citations—essentially pulling strings to make the situation go away. Officers noted his status as a former senator played a role in the quick de-escalation and dismissal.
