Joe - there is one other reason to not have national voter ID. The fact that our elections are conducted at local levels, counties, precincts, states, makes it very very difficult for a centralized corrupt government to corrupt the electoral process; virtually impossible. Give everyone a federal voter ID card, now you have a tool to influence elections. The sloppy, patchwork nature of our elections is what protects them from consequential fraud.
