With Trump, we now have: 1. Higher oil and gasoline prices. 2. A new war in the Middle East. 3. US troops illegally deployed in America. 4. Higher prices due to tariffs. 5. Higher interest rates. 6. New terror security alerts. This clown 🤡 needs to be impeached today.
Republicans are now hoping this will save them from the midterm Blue Wave tsunami. It would have worked. But people like me defected to the Democrat Party, so I will easily deflect this BS attack on our healthcare and democracy. Texas will go Blue. Should have given us ACA credits, MAGA Mike.
SHUTDOWN DEAL SPARKS DEMOCRATIC FURY OVER HEALTH CARE Eight Senate Democrats’ support for the deal ending the 40-day shutdown has angered many in the party, with critics saying it offered little on health care tax credits. Progressive leaders, including Gavin Newsom, Chris Murphy, and Bernie Sanders, called it a political and policy misstep. The controversy highlights internal party divisions and has led some to urge Chuck Schumer to step down, setting up debates ahead of next year’s midterm primaries.

Don't ever forget. Donald Trump is ultimately responsible for all of this evil crap that's happening to this country.

If you're feeling down about the Democrats right now, Take comfort that Donald Trump just suffered another humiliating loss by his own stacked Supreme Court. 🤣 There is still hope for America yet.

This is what happens when process junkies run the show. They treat Trump like a negotiating partner instead of an extortionist and hostage taker. This garbage deal ends the shutdown, but it does not end the fight. The ACA subsidies will be back on the table in December, and the GOP will not have the shutdown gun to our heads anymore. If Mike Johnson refuses to bring up the vote, they fully own everyone's 100% - 400% guaranteed premium increases on healthcare. Trump just taught Senate Republicans they can take hostages and force a win. But it comes at the cost of every election they run in. An incredibly stupid move by Republicans. Gavin Newsom, AOC, and Bernie Sanders are right. This is a betrayal and there is no sugar coating it. But what makes them powerful and keeps Democrats winning in the end is that they call this garbage out early. Can you imagine if Democrats caved right before election night? The model going forward is accountability before the voting, not after. I look forward to all the new Democrat progressives replacing all the retiring senators. Let's get to work.

I think if you want to understand what the minority of senate Dems who are supporting this deal are thinking, you actually do have to set the politics aside — they are concerned about the harm the shutdown is doing and high-mindedly want to bring it to an end.

$SPX almost reclaiming 6800. 6850 and 6900 will be the target, although I don't think it will actually take that unless it is clear the shutdown deal passes, which it likely will. I am still bearish on bitcoin because crypto alts have broken structure to the down side and it seems to me BTC is just short squeezing to around 112,000 before the next leg lower. We'll see.

A good list of 6+ Silver Linings and concessions Democrats were able to extract from Republicans: (Yes I know hard to believe. But it is bad to be a Doomer 24/7. That's how you lose elections and get Donald Trump.)
End of the day, Democrats got out of the shutdown: 1. Nearly a month and a half of lost floor time for the Republican trifecta (and committee time in the House too) 2. Successful off year elections in VA/NJ/GA/etc. 3. A pause on RIFs for 2.5 months

Aoc would make an excellent replacement for Senator Chuck Schumer.
Senator Schumer is no longer effective and should be replaced. If you can’t lead the fight to stop healthcare premiums from skyrocketing for Americans, what will you fight for?

The fact that none of the 8 Dems are up for re-election in 2026 is a pretty good sign @SenSchumer engineered the surrender

10 thoughts on the shutdown. But, really, you don't have to reads these. there's a lot of takes out there. 1. Dems clearly lost on their main objectives: extending subsidies+ ending rescissions. Can't spin that 2. Dems run real risk of depressing a base that just began to think they were fighting/had a winning hand 3. Dems succeeded in elevating health care as a salient issue. 4. Trump does now take ownership/heat for premium hikes to come 5. Hostage taking works. Especially around SNAP and flights. Lawmakers got spooked. 6. It's not the worst thing in the world so try and save hostages! 7. But it doesn't bode well for future shutdown fights (and there will be more) that Republicans know they can do this. 8. And yet.... Dems have apparently removed SNAP as a hostage for any future shutdown fight (not insignificant) 9. Dems believe that RIFs are now off table. The CR language forbids them (and if they extend the CR, they will remain forbidden). Plus, judges have ruled you can't RIF during a shutdown (should we end up back in one). 9a. Trump will surely challenge this. 10. Almost all of this won't impact the midterms. At this point in the 2013 shutdown people were convinced Republicans had just screwed themselves. Within days everyone was talking about a failed website launch related to the health care law whose subsidies we just waged a shutdown over. -fin-
Democrats did not want to do this "shutdown deal" because they wanted to lower healthcare costs. Now Republicans and Trump fully own 400% increases in healthcare premiums. In counties and states where Trump won in 2024. Have fun in the midterms, Republicans.
Right again. Called it on Tuesday night. Dems could’ve done this deal 35 days ago. Purely political. They hurt people for nothing other than politics.
