Today I continued my visitation to commiserate and support our PU agents and supporters that were brutalized by APC Thugs on saturday. We started in Agege, then Shomolu, Bariga and Kosofe LG. It was heart breaking to see a grown man cry in front of his children because he can't walk. It was encouraging to see courage, strong spirits and undefeated hearts, despite adversity. We stand with you, we will continue to support you and we will overcome. God bless you all. #OURLAGOS
“What do I say to the woman whose whole family was killed in Benue or in Plateau? What do I say to all the people who have been killed, and the President failed to visit them to show them love and empathy? He went to Benue to pay them a condolence visit, but instead, they lined up people to clap for him. He said he could not get to that location. Killings have been happening all over this country. Not one word from the presidency. What do I say to all those people?” thisdaylive.com/2025/11/09/g…
I am very worried for the future of our country. We had so many years to get things right. We have the resources and the human capital to protect our citizens and exert our sovereignty, but again and again we see successive governments embrace corruption and mediocrity instead of vision and discipline to create a truly powerful sovereign nation. In all of this, one thing is clear and indisputable: the APC has failed to live up to the purpose of governance, which is the protection of lives and property. This failure of leadership is directly responsible for the death of thousands of our citizens and the attack on our sovereignty. Violent Propagandists are incapable of leadership. I’d be spending time praying for Nigeria today.
This Roll-up banner of YP Homes and Properties (With the picture of Oba Saliu) found in a hotel in Lagos, tells you all you need to know about the wicked demolition in Oworo. It is always in the interest of the connected few. It doesn’t matter how many people lose their properties, how many kids are thrown or the streets or how many die from the violent evictions. It’s always about profit and this is what they want to do with your land that they grab using state apparatus. God willing, we will end this oppression and injustice, I have always said to the propagandist peddling the narrative of the "take over of Lagos" the biggest land grabbers and take over of indigenous lands are by the current political elite, from Ibeju lekki to Badagry to the common wealth and properties of Lagos bequeathed from the federal to this state , greed and bad governance never discriminates it touches all. #ourlagos
If Alhaji Jakande and Mobolaji Johnson focused on building houses for the rich and allocating government homes and lands to friends and cronies, 90% of the political elites in Lagos today would have grown up in slums. But sadly, these ~politicians~ profiteers, who enjoyed public housing, public education and public health have completely lost their humanity. Ejecting thousands of children from their homes at midnight and leaving families helpless on the streets. I’ve made myself clear on this matter on multiple occasions. I do not condone illegal buildings but when government is criminally complicit it loses the moral right to demolish houses recklessly. Not even when the same government, despite several appeals, has failed to make adequate investment in public housing. The APC has brought enough pain to the people. It has not only failed to deliver on basic public infrastructure, it is now bent on taking away the hard work and investments of working families. This has to stop. Egypt built over 100,000 flats in Cairo to provide decent housing for slum dwellers but Lagos is forcing thousands into slums with it reckless policies, inhumanity and corruption. Today, I was moved to tears after my visit to Oworoshoki. I witnessed firsthand how men of means have been reduced to destitutes, how women have been stripped of their dignities and how children have had their dreams stolen. Today all they ask for is some form of compensation, something to help them pick up the pieces of their lives. LAGOS needs to be so much more humane. #Ourlagos #Ekotiwa

Firstly , there is a court order restraining the state. But like we saw in Otodo gbame, in Okun Alfa, and in several other communities, the APC is a lawless gang that have no respect for the rule of law and are driven by pure greed that is powered by violence. How do we encourage investment when people cannot be guaranteed property rights? How can we attract investments when the state is the chief promoter of lawlessness? 2). I have constantly proposed a housing policy that will increase the supply of housing units in Lagos. 400k in the first four years and 600k in the next four. The target is to deliver a million housing units in 8 years. The usual skeptics will say it’s just a populist statement but I have a clear plan to deliver on it, building on the Jakande strategy. It starts with empathy and compassion and a relentless commitment to serve the people. Second, we will adopt the Egyptian model of developing slums not destroying them. I proposed a more streamlined and transparent planning approval process that limits all kickbacks and development hurdles developers face in exchange for a luxury property tax that will directly fund social housing ( by cash payments or buy building affordable housing units at specified sites). developers will also be given incentives and concessions to invest in affordable housing, which will be accessed through a transparent lottery system. 3. The inhumanity of the APC LAGOS is staggering. They destroy people’s homes and brutalize them in the process, in the middle of the night. Assuming without conceding that the building were illegal, it shows you how corrupt and incompetent they are that they continue to allow massive construction across the state only to realize years later that same properties are illegal. But it is even worse, go and look at all the land forcefully taken a way from indigenous communities from Marwa, to Ikota, to Oniru - it is the rich that then take over, mostly their friends and cronies. It is the exact same template that will happen in oworo. Displace indigenous people, claim it is for overriding public interest or contravention and then sell to the developers who build for the rich and affluent. This criminality cannot continue. The government must be as intentional for the poor as they are for the rich. All water facing land does not have to be appropriated solely for the rich, development can and should be inclusive. Development does not always have to come by chasing the poor out with violence and thuggery in to even more suffering at such a difficult time in Nigeria. #OURLAGOS
Oworonshoki Demolitions Lack Planning and Empathy - Rhodes-Vivour The Lagos State Government must follow the rule of law to encourage investments. Midnight demolitions without notice, destroying buildings and belongings, show a lack of empathy. The compensation process has been a charade. Lagos' approach appears intentional in housing the rich, while neglecting the needs of 75% of its poor residents. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, Chieftain, African Democratic Congress

Government cannot exist solely for the interest of the rich in a state that is over 75% poor. You cannot justify coming like a thief at midnight to demolish people's houses without giving them time to move their belongings. Theses lands are being appropriated to be sold for huge amounts, Those cost must factor in a dignified, honest and transparent relocation program for all those affected. The Lagos government cannot solely exist to serve the interests of the rich. It is #ourlagos
It is deeply disheartening to realize that this land has already been allocated to the same vested interests behind these midnight demolitions carried out without a shred of empathy. Development is necessary, but it should not consistently come at the expense of the poor. Nigeria is already hard enough. That is why we need a Lagos for all policy that is intentional about delivering housing for the poor as it is about creating opportunities for the rich. #OurLagos

LASG PRESENTS CHEQUES TO OWNERS OF OWORO PROPERTY REMOVED FOR URBAN REGENERATION The Lagos State Government has presented cheques to 79 Oworo community residents whose properties were removed as part of the state's urban regeneration efforts.  The ceremony, held at the Palace of Oloworo Kingdom, was supervised by the Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency (LASURA), an agency under the Office of Urban Development (OUD).  General Manager of LASURA, Tpl. Animashaun Oladimeji Saheed, speaking during the presentation, stated that the government had previously notified affected residents and conducted an enumeration exercise to determine the extent of the compensation.  He emphasised that the compensation fulfilled the government's promise to support affected property owners.  Saheed reiterated the government's commitment to its development agenda and engaging with residents and stakeholders to protect citizens' rights.  The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, describing it as a welcome relief, and assured the government of their cooperation in the state's development. @jidesanwoolu @drobafemihamzat @gbenga_omo @gboyegaakosile @LanreBajulaiye @BarrBimbola @Mr_JAGs @Riddwane #AGreaterLagosRising #LASG
**A different line of reasoning, for those that might read this in future ** "This is covert sycophancy masquerading as a form gratitude. For me, as a direct descendant, the pardon was uncalled for since the so called ‘crime’ predated the formation of the country called Nigeria. So thanks but no thanks. I don’t think Folabi Macaulay (Rear Admiral Retired) really knows his onions. The background was that Herbert Macaulay spent some £315 of the money in a Trust fund that he was a custodian which was in fact, founded by his cousin, not for personal gain but as part of his armories to fight the British colonial govt. The British colonial government then went to lure and induce another member of the Trust fund to press charges against him which they would support to get a conviction. Remember, this wasn’t government money we are talking about, but they went ahead anyway to get him convicted and sentenced to 2yrs imprisonment. He appealed but his appeal was never heard and deliberately quashed by the colonial government. Why? Simply to tarnish his rising profile amongst his people. But people saw through it and his popularity consequently ballooned upon his release against the government’s expectations. When their goal wasn’t realized afterwards, they decided to jail him again for sedition based on an article he wrote criticizing the colonial government for discrimination against the indigenous people and ironically, for their own corruption. The end game of the colonial government was to shut him up and out of any possibility of ever holding public office again. He was considered too enlightened and dangerous to their power game. This they achieved till Herbert Macaulay died in 1946. Next year, May 7, 2026, will be 80 years since his death. This was a man the British feared but also offered the whole of Marina as bribe to shut him up but he refused, insisting on the end to British occupation of his fatherland. After his death, the colonial government went to great lengths to demolish his personal residence Kirsten Hall, where the present Nigeria post office Headquarters was built at Marina, all in an effort to keep him from becoming a martyr and his residence from being a mausoleum or monument where the locals could go to remember and pay their respects for his contributions to their struggle for freedom. The question then is, what exactly is this Tinubu’s government up to? What do they stand to benefit from tarnishing the man’s image by this pardon with some latter day criminals? Why provide an answer to a question nobody asked? Maybe they don’t know any better but at least, they ought to have consulted members of the family to get a true picture or insight into what happened then. I guess they want to legitimize their crooked ways. Who are these Tinubu’s spin doctors? Dim wit pillocks and schmucks like Onanuga & co to include Herbert Macaulay’s name on this list. So very sad. They must be in for the money I suppose. Again, the joke is on them. They have inadvertently made a mess of whatever the image of Tinubu’s government they are trying to prop up. A very bad PR job indeed, if you ask me. The writers of the above piece may however be looking for relevance or even some token from this government. Who knows? The shock and response from the public is enough consolation for the family. Herbert Olayinka Heelas Badmus Macaulay - The Wizard of Kirsten Hall, Oyinbo Alawo Dudu, Ejo Ngboro. RIP 🙏. His spirit lives on…. Lanre Oshodi. (Grt grand son) "

Despite propaganda attempts to spin the narrative , Oct 20th 2020 remains a day that peaceful youth of Lagos united across divides of class, ethnicity, religion and stood with one voice to demand better from their government and an end to police brutality. This stand was not politically motivated or sponsored. The state brought violence against them twice , the first with thugs and machetes the second with the army. May the courageous souls lost continue to rest in perfect peace. We remember.
I acknowledge that the video in the original post that i retweeted was mislabelled as happening in Cameroon when infact it happened in Haiti. Having said that, my original message still stands-Cameroonians are demanding credible elections, so are the youths across Africa. Good governance will not be handed to a population that politicians neither respect or fear and take for granted. Those scared of the people rising to demand credible elections are silent or even cheer when thugs threaten opposition or beat their fellow citizen for just attending a political gathering . The abuser always gets their pants in a twist when the abused says they will push back. Let us like PBAT be bold and send warning signals to INEC, let us boldly call out the suffering and death Nigerians are experiencing all across the country. 2027 will be an election between the people and the government, may the people be victorious.
There is a global contagion of youth consciousness and reawakening. From Kathmandu, to Antananarivo, and now Yaoundé - young people, frustrated by years of stagnation and deprivation, are rejecting corrupt and incompetent political elites. As Thomas Jefferson stressed: Whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends [life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness], it is the right of the people to alter it, and to institute new government…”

Cameroonians flooded the streets after voting with no placards but matchets, stones & others. Guess what! The authorities are scared to alter the election results. If Nigerians don't learn from this in 2027, it'll be game over for them & their Country.

The drug crisis ravaging the youths of Lagos is a tragedy that is actively tearing families apart and wasting away the future of our youth. Those recently granted presidential pardons were not innocent victims ( mules) or mere users, they were drug pushers and dealers, profiting from the misery of our people. How is it that those fueling this drug epidemic have such powerful connections to the president or the presidency to be able to secure 1/3rd of the presidential pardons? Why are these particular set of criminals the priority of the state? #ourlagos #ekotiwa
Nigeria was not always like this.
In 1947, Justice S.B Rhodes II, not only reported a man for attempting to bribe him, he testified against him in court. In this times of controversial pardons ( some for accepting bribes) and the loss of faith in the Judiciary, it is important to remind ourselves that integrity and honour are not foreign to us.

Tinubu’s Reckless Use of Presidential Pardon Undermines Justice and Emboldens Criminality The recent announcement of a presidential pardon by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has, as expected, provoked outrage across the nation. Ordinarily, the power of presidential pardon is a solemn prerogative, a moral and constitutional instrument designed to temper justice with mercy and to underscore the humanity of the state. When properly exercised, it elevates justice and strengthens public faith in governance. Regrettably, the latest pardon issued by the Tinubu administration has done the very opposite. The decision to extend clemency to individuals convicted of grave crimes such as drug trafficking, kidnapping, murder, and corruption not only diminishes the sanctity of justice but also sends a dangerous signal to the public and the international community about the values this government upholds. At a time when Nigeria continues to reel under the weight of insecurity, moral decay, and a surge in drug-related offences, it is both shocking and indefensible that the presidency would prioritize clemency for those whose actions have directly undermined national stability and social order. Particularly worrisome is the revelation that 29.2% percent of those pardoned were convicted for drug-related crimes at a time when our youth are being destroyed by narcotics, and our nation is still struggling to cleanse its image from the global stain of drug offences. Even more disturbing is the moral irony that this act of clemency is coming from a President whose own past remains clouded by unresolved and unexplained issues relating to the forfeiture of thousands of dollars to the United States government over drug-related investigations. It is, therefore, no surprise that this administration continues to demonstrate a worrying tolerance for individuals associated with criminal enterprise. A presidential pardon is meant to symbolize restitution and moral reform. Instead, what we have witnessed is a mockery of the criminal justice system, an affront to victims, a demoralization of law enforcement, and a grave injury to the conscience of the nation. Clemency must never be confused with complicity. When a government begins to absolve offenders of the very crimes it claims to be fighting, it erodes the moral authority of leadership and emboldens lawlessness. Nigeria deserves a leadership that upholds justice, not one that trivializes it. -AA
Thank you @GbenroAdegbola for this important piece of history, Herbert Macaulay is indeed one of Nigeria’s most inspiring figure's and it gives me joy that this part of his legacy has been ironed out.
Why would a man dead since 1946 be recipient of a state pardon? That’s a puzzle which the list of the recent beneficiaries of presidential prerogative of mercy, raises. It has the name of the nationalist, Hebert Macaulay, famed as the ultimate godfather of Lagos politics on it.
It is all STRATEGY, it is all a DISTRACTION. When Lagos APC can keep you talking about issues of no actual consequences to your lives, they prevent you from talking about the following: The real issues are that 139 million Nigerians are living in poverty in 2025. That food inflation is the highest this country has seen and that terrorists are killing people across the country with impunity. It is about the incompetence of the APC and their utter failure at leadership, the looting in the face of so much suffering. The corruption of N17 billion for assembly gate. N2 billion for rechargeable fans, N2billion — to renovate a canteen they already claimed to fix for ₦1 billion. At the same time, despite several complaints before and after the needless death of the doctor in the elevator of the general hospital, the elevator was still not fixed 2 years after her death. N20.6 billion for new vehicles, after spending ₦45 billion on vehicles in just two years. All this in the midst of so much hardship. The heartless demolition of properties in oworo at night did not discriminate on tribe or party affiliation. Mummy Taiwo, an ardent follower of mine in Egbeda, was beaten mercilessly before her child at the Alimosho ADC declaration. They didn’t care much about her tribe. A people that have no vision to sell, sell division, Don’t fall for it. Greed and bad governance does not discriminate based on tribe, yet it thrives in you being distracted by it. The only people taking your land, impoverishing our people and destroying our future are these greedy and incompetent politicians who are always quick to resort to violence when challenged. #Ourlagos #Ekotiwa
