Today I would like to let the world know just how stupid Australia is, and especially, just how demented the second most populous state in the country is – Victoria.
Let’s start with Australia as a whole:
Australia holds some of the largest uranium deposits in the world.
We mine and export uranium for nuclear energy generation overseas, but we, by federal law, cannot use our uranium in nuclear power plants to provide abundant, reliable power for our own nation.
If that alone doesn’t strike you as idiocy, let me now start on the state of Victoria:
In Victoria, Australia’s second highest population state, not only can we not use uranium for nuclear power generation, but we can’t even explore for uranium to mine and sell.
Victoria probably has large uranium deposits, likely in the north-west of the state, but in Victoria we can’t even find out. Literally exploration for uranium is illegal. We can’t use it for power generation due to federal law, and we can’t even seek, mine and sell it due to Victorian state law.
This is one of the dumbest legal situations I could imagine. The law harkens back to some early 80s ‘red-scare’. Ridiculous nonsense.
Successive Labor and Liberal state governments have not done away with this dementia.
Our two major parties have the mentality of a child. It’s imperative that we dismiss them both.
