Tommy Robinson was acquitted of all charges against him under the UK Terrorism Act. X is proud to have funded his successful legal defense. Robinson was detained and ordered by officers to turn over all information on his cellphone, including journalistic sources, and was prosecuted under the Terrorism Act when he refused. Today, the judge ruled the detention unlawful, finding that Robinson was improperly targeted for his political views. The verdict marks an important victory for free speech in the UK, where authorities have been engaging in troubling attempts to arrest British citizens for their social media posts. X will always stand up for your right to free speech.

As much as this is sounds like inspirational that America social media (X) involved in helping a U.K person to be freed from all charged in the court of UK law , it is leave ethical and dilemma precedent in the future . Would it be ethical that America social Media interference the other foreign court of law ? If so , is there any limit to what extend interference can reach ? As a CEO of 𝕏 company , Mr. Elon Musk free to spend all his money to pay whatever as his heart desire but to interference wit the court process in one foreign country … then we must think “ hold on second “ . is it correct or not ? What if he interference with other charges in the UK law ?

👉 A resounding victory! The question is: does the UK still have too few honest judges, or do these judges feel they shouldn't go too far, especially with public figures, to avoid a civil war? 😄

This positions X as a speech champion that will “always” stand up for users. The record is messier. X has sometimes challenged state orders, including public pushback in India, but it has also complied with court-ordered geoblocking in India and Turkey, and it recently lost a legal challenge to India’s takedown regime. Platforms balance values against hard sovereign power. So “always” is not the right adverb. However, the Robinson ruling has implications beyond one figure. Schedule 7 powers have long been criticised for breadth and for their use at the border on people with political affiliations, including journalists and campaigners. The Home Office has been revising codes of practice. The central lesson is operational discipline. If officers cannot show that questions were asked for the statutory purpose, and if protected beliefs bear significant weight in selection, the resulting detention will fail. The ruling threads that needle without striking down the regime.

It's bittersweet. I'm very glad @TRobinsonNewEra was acquitted and I thank you for your assistance. I'm also very angry others would have gone to jail without your assistance. Money talks and all that.

Could he possibly sue for damages? He’s been unfairly targeted for speaking his mind for years. He’s just one of many concerned British citizens.

Thank you for the update. The ruling underscores the importance of due process and the protection of journalistic and political expression. Ensuring that laws are applied impartially is essential to maintaining public trust and safeguarding fundamental rights.

Justice in the UK? That is shocking and hard to believe. But they’re not done persecuting Tommy Robinson. The entire system is hopelessly corrupt.

Thank you for standing up for the principles of free speech in the legal space. I do wish you would embrace a more absolute freedom of speech on this platform as well. My speech is still chilled by your policies and enforcement.

A journalist being charged with a terror offence for failing to give police access to his phone is absolutely absurd.
