A view towards the head of beautiful Glen Etive, which runs for 14 miles south-west from the upper end of Glen Coe to the head of Loch Etive. Once there you turn round and come back: but it's a wonderful drive to somewhere very special. More pics and info: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/g…

Very moving Remembrance Sunday service which I attended with @HDewarSport and my ex-army father at St Athernase Church, Leuchars, Fife this morning. A huge attendance with representatives of all of the armed forces.

Considering the people of Scotland had no say or vote, it was always illegal. The only way England could enforce its invasion was to send in General Wade to billet 100 regiments across Scotland to impose English power.

Since last night, two more founders have told me they’re flipping their companies to US topcos and planning how to leave before the budget. One runs a unicorn in a critical industry the UK must have a strong presence in. This level of instability is fracturing business confidence.
The UK would be making an incredibly shortsighted move bringing in an exit tax. I know multiple founders running £100m+ companies who are frantically trying to figure out how to leave. This is a disaster in the making. We should be incentivising innovators not driving them away.

Whoever briefed the exit tax policy is an absolute muppet. Another day, another billion-dollar founder leaving the UK.

Labour are going to raise income tax, to punish those who work, taking more of their money. Labour are also going to raise taxes even more on those earning over £50k, punishing success. At the same time, Labour plan to tax pensions and those saving. Labour are thieves.

Holyrood is a creature of Westminster statute, which renders it non-sovereign as far as international law is concerned. Its powers are devolved, not inherent, and can be altered or revoked by Westminster. A sovereign Convention of the Estates would derive its authority directly from the people, not from statute. It might include those elected to Holyrood, but it would have to be constituted independently and be more representative of civic society - reflecting Scotland's historic principle that sovereignty rests with the community of the realm.

Probably the most epic takedown of Net Zero ever aired on television, courtesy of Peter Hitchens. "If you want to live in a country where nobody can afford to heat their house... if you want lots of people to lose their jobs because there's no energy, if you want to be cold all the time... then carry on believing that the demand to go for Net Zero... is intelligent and thoughtful."
