My US politics are of course the median voter SEEMS incoherent; the political system is incoherent, lessor of two evils means little when both hurt you, and people are trying to make the right choice in a bad system while busy with life We need a strong working class party

This account, who was lecturing leftists about how DSA needs to accept as much dark money as we can because of our lack of resources, thinks there's no problem with using valuable limited DSA resources to uplift a centrist Dem that doesn't even help at the national level.
Kate we get it you want republicans to win

I only partly agree with Nina here; gerrymandered districts ARE harder for grassroots campaigns but we gotta do something here, but that's because I think laser focusing focusing on one issue alone without considering nuance, like liberals tell leftists to do, is not great.
The same people who screech at leftists for the "OmNiCaUsE" and caring about more than one thing don't recognize what actually having a single focus looks like, this is literally the mentality you've been telling leftists to have as you told us to ignore Gaza.
ok she's gotta be taking Republican money or something right? this is getting out of hand
Republicans are absolutely fucking terrified of their base. More specifically, they remember what their base tried and almost successfully did to them on J6 and know Trump, who got off without consequences, is gladly going to do it again if needed.
"Republicans fear their base" Are you fucking serious?

Susan Collins sucks, but the other senator, a dem-caucusing independent, has to be better, right? RIGHT? ... Oh.

It's incredibly annoying knowing Dick Durban is voting to give GOP whatever they want, and knowing when he retires it's actually a nice spot in Springfield, like I had my wedding reception in the park he lives next to because I really like that park.
To all those people saying that swing state senators should cave, Josh Turek (who imo has the best shot of winning his Dem primaries) is running for *Iowa* senate and, with popular Democrat Rob Sand running as governor there, has a really chance with a nice downballot effect.
Replying to @lisakashinsky
With Rep. Robin Kelly, Josh Turek and Peggy Flanagan, we’re now up to at least 11 Democratic Senate candidates urging Dem senators not to cave on the shutdown without more concessions on ACA subsidies
Regular reminder that one of the best ways to speed up busses in big cities is to skip fare collection and anybody who thinks free busses is silly and we should only focus on fast buses does not ride the bus.
Hochul stonewalling the silly parts of Mamdani’s platform (free buses, city grocers, $30 min wage) but pushing through the really good stuff (faster buses/safer streets, property tax reform, universal childcare) is probably the ideal scenario for the next 4 years. One can dream!

The other day I saw a reminder in the local news that Twitter is not real life, there is a data center planned for my county that locals are objecting to, and the article *only mentions electricity* usage and not water usage because electricity is the actual argument against it.
gen Z is tryna cancel liv agar for saying ChatGPT's water usage is trivial (it is)

The funniest thing about the Archie Sonic Boom comics is that they changed the cover tagline one the reviews for Rise of Lyric dropped.

The entire reason we're in this mess is because when Dems got a trifecta we "but Manchin" to excuse why they couldn't keep their major promises. Absolutely not, if Dems get a trifecta again they *need* to get incredible stuff done with it the first two years
I mean… Joe Manchin boasts the biggest electoral overperformance of the 21st century for a Democrat If there was a year he’d realistically have a chance of winning again in West Virginia, it’d be 2026 Him running as an independent helps a bit too

I saw the Washington Post editorial on redistricting today and this is my official response.
Not the point, go away Cuomo, but it amazes me how long some states have to get access to the ballot compared to my frame of reference. What do you mean he's considering it, the deadline for signatures passed in Illinois *and* we'll have primaries before their deadline hits!
Intel from Somos: Andrew Cuomo is now exploring a campaign for retiring Rep. Jerry Nadler’s Manhattan House seat, according to two people familiar with the matter.
This is how silly some of y'all look with your deep gerrymanders that cut up states into thin little slices.

Steam has close enough to a monopoly but that's more of a failure of other companies to offer a truly suitable competitor. And when I say that I mean Steam is FUCKED when owner Gabe Newell dies, most business types have no idea how a business like Steam should work.
72% of devs believe Steam has a monopoly on PC games: The independent study, conducted by Atomik Research, surveyed 306 industry executives across the UK and USA between May 18 and 22, 2025. >75% of respondents were senior managers or C-suite level, with 77% from studios with more than 50 employees. >The study found that for most studios, Steam accounts for over 75% of revenue.
Eh, they have ranked choice voting right? He can do what what wants, he won't spoil anybody. Best case situation is one of his policies is adapted by the primary winner, and that's still great right?

I have faith the system will work, just give it time; Gore will win Florida in a fairly conducted election.
BREAKING: CNN RETRACTS CALL FOR FLORIDA FOR GORE Florida is now “too close to call.”
I like Michelle Wu from what I know, but this is why I believe in under voting. Don't vote because they're the only one for that seat! Give *some* data on who might oppose a candidate.
One result that went under the radar this week was incumbent Boston mayor Michelle Wu sailing to re-election unopposed. Even so, there were a handful of precincts with more blank ballots than votes for Wu in heavily Irish Southie and Neponset.

If you are a regular person, I accept non-voting as a vote. If you are a politician, you need to vote regularly. If you are a Democratic politician living in *a swing state* who is not voting, go the fuck away.
BREAKING: My Congressman did not bother to vote on Tuesday or for Kamala Harris in 2024. He skipped SIX recent elections.
