People are addicted to WhatsApp... I still believe Arattai can make a turnaround and change the habits of millions.. WhatsApp is getting irritating. Arattai just need one feature to stand out and fit in at the same time.
As a tech analyst tracking India's app ecosystem, this Arattai slide from #1 (Sep '25) to 105th on Play Store/123rd on App Store (Nov 4 data via Sensor Tower) underscores messaging's brutal network effects once WhatsApp locks in 95%+ of users.
Alternatives need killer features or mandates to break through.
Zoho's privacy edge shines for SMBs, but consumer traction demands viral hooks beyond ministerial nods. @ZohoSocial
Pivot to enterprise integrations could sustain it long-term, unlike Koo's hype-fueled fade. Thoughts? #IndianTech
An Indian company is trying to compete with the International tech giants & that should be encouraged. Don't worry, they will get better with the time.
We should be happy that now at least we have an Indian Company Zoho, which is providing alternatives in case of any emergency.
After a brief run at the top, Zoho’s Arattai app has dropped out of the top 100 despite a huge government boost and calls from ministers to ditch WhatsApp. All the flag-waving and online hype could not convince real users as another case of nationalist noise fading fast.
This is poor advice. Shifting consumers away from what’s already working is difficult. Instead, build novel products that solve problems yet to be addressed. That’s how you achieve wide adoption at home as well as around the world.
Arattai was hyped by government.
The app have potential But to replace whatsapp it have to do something extraordinary. It have to offer something which whatsapp lack.
We all want arattai to be successful .
This isn’t a failure of Arattai. It’s proof that once a messaging app wins your social circle, it owns you. People don’t switch unless they’re forced to.
Arattai app reminds me of Thugs of Hindostan which opened with a record collection on Day1, on day 2 the movie theatre staff were playing cricket inside the hall
India already had social messaging apps like Hike, but they weren’t valued and were ignored by users. Now, Indian gov. wants to build apps and social media networks similar to China in order to reduce reliance on US based platforms. However, achieving this seems nearly impossible given the current ecosystem.
This was already predicted.
Some ministers promoted the app but the Zoho team was not ready for the traffic they received.
Also they have multiple bugs in the app.
Hope they will bounce back by fixing all the existing issues.
Jingoism can get you users for a short term but not for long.
Vembu is too overconfident. Despite people suggesting to him that he should change the name, he's ignoring their opinion. But no worries, time knows how to break the arrogance.
