What did I just read?
I've been here for 8 years, half of that time spent in relative anonymity, quietly enjoying the JPEG hobby. The other half of that time, followed, tracked and shared everywhere through the highs and lows of the NFT boom.
I've learnt a few things over these 8 years, speculation (mostly) sucks, NFTs were more fun when they weren't treated like financial assets and stocks to be traded. We didn't always judge a collection by it's floor price, we used to talk in discord and share cool things, educate, celebrate the wins of others and not their losses.
NFTs were once a haven for the weird and wonderful, the neuro-diverse, artists looking to be discovered, to be protected from galleries and earn royalties from their art being resold on secondary markets. The greatest part of this entire journey has been the relationships gained along the way, mainly in small, private discords and social platforms.
This is why the House of Pranksy is being built, a private discord and community not for the few but for the many, a safe space away from speculation. Get into crypto in May 2017 at 23 yo during my gap year to escape the rat race after 6-month internship in finance.
Late 2018, freshly graduated with a master in finance, crypto went to zero, lost almost everything, was completely broke and was in absolute denial, had no clue what to do with my life, was just partying, smoking weed and eating junk food with frens for a month or two.
Early 2019, had probably $20k left in crypto and $300 in bank, didn't want to sell crypto. Decided to get my shit together, faked 100% of my past experiences and managed to find a freelance mission in Paris as a product manager paid $500 daily after tax. Hustled hard first few weeks to learn a new job that I was supposed to have done for several years.
At the same time, started hitting the gym 6 times a week. Literally talking about gym and diet with frens I used to talk crypto with. Gym was amazing to keep a sense of improvement.
In May 2020, had $50k savings from freelance mission, enough for me to leave my freelance mission and go try to be full time crypto for the next year.
August 2024, it has been +4 years I left corporate world. Moved to Dubai with my brother and friends. Life is good.
