People who love the changing of leaves, birdsong or the quiet hush of the woods, the smell of rain, the gentleness of moss, reading beneath a tree and believing that the finding of a smooth stone or a bird's feather is treasure - those are my kind of people.

The average monthly SNAP benefit is $177 a person. The average ACA benefit is up to $550 a person/mo. People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives. Working people want leaders whose word means something.

I’ll do it. Immigrants are not eligible for Medicaid. The only time an immigrant receives any sort of coverage is if they have a medical emergency - like a heart attack. Because of our EMTALA law, anyone presenting to an emergency must be treated, regardless of insurance coverage. When people who do not have insurance go to the hospital for an emergency, the hospital social services will assist them in applying for temporary Medicaid so the treatment will be covered. This doesn’t necessarily help the patient - they weren’t going to pay anyway. Who it benefits is the HOSPITAL. If you take away federal Medicaid payments from hospitals who provide emergency treatment to immigrants, you are forcing those hospitals to provide the treatment for free. This will cause hospitals all over the country to close, especially in rural areas where they are already struggling. You want hospitals to close? Keep voting for Republicans. Done.
Since every Republican in Congress is repeating their false talking point over & over that “Democrats want to shut down the govt to give free healthcare to illegal aliens,” it would be helpful if some Democrats in Congress could address that argument with facts at some point.

Sorry not sorry for a cliched unboxing but as someone who spent his whole life reading books and dreaming of being an author this is a biggie. Can’t believe I’m up to book 3(!!!). This is dedicated to all the writers writing, querying, worrying, about to give up. Don’t give up!

It’s #FridayReads time! Let’s boost all signals. Repost this and let us know what to repost for you. I’m sharing this one because it’s very timely, helped me land an agent, was a Stoker nominee, was published in France and Italy, and it’s 30% off! amazon.com/gp/aw/d/031658479…

Heard y’all are doing Noirvember? Well, this kicks off with someone’s mom taking two to the face while working and then gets dark. Literally and figuratively. I promise. It’s what barrio noir does. amazon.com/gp/aw/d/031642701…

Today marks SIX WEEKS since I was elected by the voters of AZ-07. For six weeks, @SpeakerJohnson has denied them their voice in Congress. That's not leadership. That's obstruction.
