The Real STAR of Femi Otedola's Speech at his Daughter, Temi's Wedding
Everybody is talking about
@realFemiOtedola's speech at his daughters wedding and gushing over the fact that he said he bought 2 houses.
It's great but everyone's missing what I believe is the most important, salient part of that talk, the real heart of it.
Which is that: the real estate agent who sold him the houses had been showing him properties to buy for 15 YEARS straight before he bought one, and then a second one within months.
Lessons:
1. Focus and longevity: The agent was in the same business for over a decade.
Most people spread themselves thin and do 10 different things in one year and wonder why none ever pans out.
2. Followup: He kept following up with Otedola for over 15 years, despite him not buying. He knew he had the money for it. He knew one day he'd find what he liked.
3. Upsell/Cross sell: He called him and told him about a second house he thought he might like. He didn't say, "Well, at least he's finally bought something o. Make I use that one hol body."
He had a new property he believed the client would like and pitched it very quickly.
Don't shy away from selling something to the same people who just bought something from you. They will very likely buy again, especially if they liked what they bought before.
That is why your initial sale is the most important sale you'll make. You want to do a terrific job of it, it sets up your next sale and make that easy.
Then you get word of mouth recommendations from them, which gets you more sales.
Rinse and repeat.
