Aztec is a Privacy-First Layer 2 (L2) on Ethereum.

Aztec achieves maximum privacy using two separate execution environments:
1. Private Functions are executed client-side on the user's device in the Private Execution Environment (PXE, pronounced 'pixie').
The PXE generates proofs for onchain verification.
2. Public Functions are executed by a remote network of nodes in the Aztec Virtual Machine (AVM).
Crucially, Aztec is not EVM compatible;
it extends the Ethereum ecosystem by creating a new alt-VM! @aztecnetwork

1. Noir: a ZK domain specific language used for writing smart contracts.
2. Native Account Abstraction: Every account in Aztec is a smart contract. This allows developers to implement custom schemes for authorizing transactions and managing keys.
