"When I picked up my granddaughter from the federal agents, she had a dirty diaper, a bruise on her face, and was developing a rash. She was exhausted and cried… My heart aches knowing this could happen to others, to my kids, or even me, despite being U.S. citizens.”
He said it was an aspiration- he never promised it.
The academy is tangibly improving but the rules have changed and it’s now virtually impossible to keep 16 year olds who are good enough.
It’s a very long term project.
He absolutely did not promise the prem in ten years but as it’s been 9 years let’s wait.
Academy funding doubled, vastly improved infrastructure and we lost two 16 yr olds to EPL clubs, got a pro (Clout), Fraser, hugely promising & Sizer on the bench yesterday. 1/2
And I think we’ll be ok and finish higher than last season.
But moaning &saying they’ve “served their purpose” etc just does not make a serious person with a serious offer appear.
Hopefully someone worth £15bn will eventually arrive and make them an offer they cannot refuse.
As I understand it people relatively frequently enquire about #pompey but it would take a serious offer from a serious person to persuade them to sell.
But if there is one, I think they would sell.
Until then, we are solvent, we’ve actually got a decent squad..
They will put together a list of clubs matching the criteria. This is exactly how the club got sold to the Eisners.
It’s how all clubs are sold. If they fancy us they will get the agent to reach out. And you know what…
Under the Eisners it’s not going to happen. They do not have the cash to start buying £5m/£10m players without liquidating assets.
You want new owners - there are agents who work with people who want to buy a football club. Rich people will ask them to line up options. So..
There isn’t a single promise at the guildhall they haven’t kept.
They are doing exactly what they promised. The problem is - and let’s just have a rational discussion for 5 minutes - people are bored of it and want faster progress.
And…
BREAKING: Mark Wolf, appointed to the federal bench by Ronald Reagan, writes that he is resigning as a judge to have the freedom to speak out against the president's assault on the rule of law
Of course he shoulders some of the responsibility- he’s a leader.
But it’s responsibility not blame. There is no need for blame. Things aren’t working but they were and will be again.
Every Jan window under Rich Hughes we’ve addressed the issues and brought more established players, so I wouldn’t worry too much about us failing to do that this January
There is a wider conversation about how we operate in the summer though (still think we had a good🪟though)
I never said that at all. I said there are lots more bad owners than good owners and if you push the owners to take any offer it might not end well.
Anyone who has been a #pompey fan for more than 10 minutes and isn’t as thick as pigshit would know.
1. It’s November and I appreciate you’ve waited for a bad run to do this but the season isn’t over yet.
2. Charlton DO NOT OWN THEIR GROUND - if we didn’t we could have spent another £30m on players.
I never criticised their recruitment.
And secondly if someone has that amount of money they don’t need an advert in the Gazette.
The Eisners didn’t buy us because the fans went out and looked for them or shouted ‘for sale’.
My point for you is very simple;
You won’t moan the Eisners into being Sheikh Mansour.
No I never said that - produce a tweet. I’ve ALWAYS said I’d rather have a money no object owner, that they exist.
The point I’m making- I know you are struggling with this - is that the Eisners aren’t them.
But they are doing a pretty good job. They are.
