Muizzu and Ihusaan are disgusting, travelling publicly with someone like Farhad.
In 2018, Prosecutor General’s Office officially asked for action to be taken against Deputy Commissioner Farhad Fikry, who was a senior police officer at the time. He was accused of tampering with evidence in a rape case that involved his own son, Mohamed Fauzan Farhad.
A letter from Prosecutor General’s Office dated 7 May 2018 said that Farhad used his influence over an investigation into the sexual assault of a 16 year old girl at a guesthouse in Male’. The letter stated that his son was present during the incident and had taken nude photos of the victim on his phone.
Instead of allowing the normal investigation to take place, Farhad took the phone and told a police officer to delete the photos. This destroyed important evidence. A later forensic check showed that the phone had been wiped and no data could be recovered.
The letter also said that this interference stopped charges from being filed in time. The police sent the case to prosecutors only 5 days before the legal deadline expired, which made it impossible to start criminal proceedings.
Farhad Fikry was therefore accused of interfering with a rape investigation involving his own son, destroying key evidence, and obstructing justice. Prosecutor General’s Office recorded and reported the matter officially, but no effective disciplinary or legal action followed.
Another serious incident took place involving Deputy Commissioner Farhad Fikry.
On 27 Feb 2025, at about 1.15 am, officers from Hulhumale’ City Police chased a motorcycle that was being driven recklessly. The rider was later identified as Mohamed Fauzan Farhad, the Deputy Commissioner’s son. He was under the influence, attacked police officers and damaged a police radio during the chase. The motorcycle, which had a fake number plate, was seized and Fauzan was taken into custody.
Soon after the arrest, Deputy Commissioner Farhad contacted several senior officers at Hulhumale’ Police, including Chief Inspector Wisham (S No 1347), Inspector Ahmed Adil (S No 1725), and Chief Inspector Ahmed Haneef. He abused his position by ordering them to release his son and the motorcycle immediately.
The chase and arrest were carried out by Sergeant Mohamed Viyaz (S No 5687) and Constable Ismail Sahil (S No 6342) after a 45 minute pursuit. During the incident, one of the officers, Constable Ali Wiam Zahir (S No 6261), was assaulted by Fauzan.
Even though the offence was serious, the Deputy Commissioner’s unlawful orders were followed by the senior officers at Hulhumale’ Police Phase 1 Station.
This was the 2nd known time that Deputy Commissioner Farhad abused his authority, the first being the case mentioned above.
This latest misconduct was reported to the Commissioner of Police and then to the Minister of Homeland Security, who informed President’s Office. After this, President’s Office instructed Deputy Commissioner Farhad to resign.
Even though both the Minister of Homeland Security, Ihusaan and Muizzu were fully aware of these incidents, they continued to travel and appear publicly with such corrupt police officers.
Disgusting.
