Last month, we were thrilled to host Malala Yousafzai @Malala at our facilities in Cairo, where she met children and families evacuated from Gaza, listened to their stories, and shared heartfelt moments with them.

What is happening in Afghanistan is a warning to the world. Afghan women hold the line for all of us. At the People’s Tribunal in Madrid, their testimonies became legal evidence as proof of Taliban’s state-led campaign of gender persecution. The final verdict is expected in two months. #EndGenderApartheid

The @MalalaFund has supported INARA since last year, and we’re grateful to announce a renewed partnership through another grant that will help us continue delivering life-altering impact; from specialized medical treatment to educational kits.

This #DayOfTheGirl, my message is that @MalalaFund continues standing with every girl in Pakistan to ensure your voice is heard, you can learn freely and choose your own future. Together, we will recover from the devastating floods, build safer schools and fight for policies that put girls first.

This Day of the Girl, @Malala announces $75,000 in new grants to support education recovery after flooding in Pakistan. This builds on $330,000 in emergency funding earlier this year, which provided immediate aid to flood-affected communities. mala.la/473ppQO

The Sumud Flotilla activists illegally detained by Israel must be released immediately. The aid they were carrying is for children whom Israel starves and women whom Israel bombs. Last week, I met Palestinian girls and mothers who were injured, lost loved ones, saw their homes destroyed or were separated from their family. Palestinian girls dream of going to their schools and living their lives in dignity. The people working to help them survive must be allowed to deliver humanitarian aid like baby formula and medicine. Governments must speak up for their citizens on the flotilla, and demand Israel end the siege on Gaza now.
Israel has intercepted the Global Sumud Flotilla sailing to Gaza and detained hundreds of crew members. The UN’s Francesca Albanese is calling it an abduction. Al Jazeera's @soraya_lennie asks, does Israel have the legal right to do any of this?
Palestinian children have been hit hardest by Israel’s genocide. Israeli forces have killed their families & destroyed their homes & schools. Thousands have been forced to flee to other countries like Egypt. Girls’ education is one of the biggest casualties of conflict. World leaders must act: end the siege, open all border crossings & implement a permanent ceasefire. Children deserve dignity, safety & a future. malala.org/news-and-voices/m…
The incredible team at @inaraorg provides frontline relief to these children & their families. We visited homes, a mental health support centre, a school & a hospital where INARA helps injured, displaced people become more independent and build dignified lives. INARA staff told me that children show up to school on time every day, eager to learn and participate in mental health programmes like equine therapy. A teenage girl told me that when she came to Egypt she was so angry & in shock that she couldn’t speak for months. She built a connection with a horse, being able to take care of an animal helped her open up to people again. @malalafund has supported INARA since last year, and today we’re announcing a new $100,000 grant to continue their work in Egypt & Gaza.
- Many girls & boys with injuries — scars on their faces & bodies, confined to wheelchairs, in pain. I’ve travelled the world meeting children in tough situations, but this is the first time where every child I met had been physically wounded, lost a close family member or saw their home bombed.

Shutting down the internet is the Taliban’s latest attempt, under their brutal system of gender apartheid, to cut Afghan women and girls off from the world. Without reliable internet access, they cannot access their courses or connect with their peers and teachers. This cannot be tolerated. Governments must immediately put maximum pressure on the Taliban to reverse the internet shutdown and restore Afghan girls' and women’s basic rights, especially their right to education.
Malala Fund condemns the Taliban’s decision to shut down the internet in at least 11 provinces in Afghanistan. Online learning has been one of the last lifelines to education for thousands of Afghan girls. This is yet another attack on the rights of the Afghan people — especially girls and women who are banned from secondary school, university and employment, and confined to their homes. mala.la/4n4xITn

Text Copyright © 2015 Michael Rosen, published by Smokestack Books ‘Don’t Mention the Children’ was written in 2014 by the children’s author, poet and activist Michael Rosen following a @guardian report that the Israeli government had banned a radio advert naming children killed in Gaza. Gaza is now the deadliest place in the world to be a child. Over 20,000 children have been killed by Israeli forces. The actual number is undoubtedly higher. These children had names, and favourite subjects in school. They wanted to be teachers, doctors and astronauts when they grew up – the same as children in the UK and across the world. They were, and still are, someone's everything: their entire universe. We refuse to allow their suffering to become normalised. We must make their voices heard. With Save the Children UK and @chooselove, we called on actors, presenters, activists and influencers to use their voices and platforms to ensure these children can never be erased. The poem was written to expose the silencing of children’s suffering in the face of devastating violence. Since then, the situation for children has only grown worse. Its message remains painfully relevant today. Demand Prime Minister Keir Starmer takes urgent action for children in Gaza and the West Bank. This week marks four years since the Taliban banned girls from secondary school. But through quiet acts of resistance, girls continue to learn and fight for freedom. Their voices matter. Share this post and stand with Afghan girls.

Flooding in Pakistan has destroyed schools and devastated communities. My heart is with all Pakistanis in this time of crisis. We must act now to support relief efforts, rebuild infrastructure and ensure girls continue learning. I am announcing new grants to @itacecorg and the Mountain Institute for Education and Development to help survivors in the greatest need. If you can, please support them too. malala.org/news-and-voices/m…
