I know that she did the *right* thing within her power, so this is not about her, but this is my point: Do we not see how f*cked up this system is that HE and his administration can pause something that impacts 40 million people with EASE but to reverse it it takes *all of this?*
To those attacking #Justice #KetanjiBrownJackson, let’s set the record straight. Justice Jackson didn’t vote against #SNAP—she issued a temporary stay to let the appeals process work. That’s not defunding, it’s due process. Her move protects long-term benefits by ensuring legal decisions aren’t rushed or reversed. She’s upholding the Constitution, not playing politics. Mic dropped.

Following a visit by several of my colleagues to western Jamaica on Friday, Senator Christian Tavares-Finson and I visited several communities in St. Elizabeth on Saturday with hundreds of care packages and supplies which we personally donated. We were supported by a team from Young Jamaica. It's a long road to go for our people who have been hit hard by Hurricane Melissa but I already detect more optimism compared to a few days ago. Together we will support our people to build back stronger. We recognise that continuity in our support is very important.

The Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MLSS) says claims circulating on social media that persons are required to present identification (ID) or Taxpayer Registration Numbers (TRNs) to collect hurricane relief packages are completely false. “There appears to be an attempt to conflate two separate activities. No documentation is required to access any food or hygiene packages distributed by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. However, documentation is normally requested during the household damage assessment process,” the MLSS said in a statement on Sunday. jamaicaobserver.com/2025/11/…

So hold on. GOJ must: 1. Provide aid (medical, social, psycho-social, welfare, security, etc) 2. Fix back infrastructure (roads, water lines, hospitals, other GOJ buildings) 3. Pay out salaries which come due regardless of storms PLUS fix back 500k house? Unuh mad man.

🚨 BREAKING: Bernie Sanders is urging Democratic senators to oppose the current shutdown deal, calling it a “blank check for Trump’s cruelty.” He says any agreement that cuts food aid or expands ICE funding “should be rejected outright.”

Portmore toll. Three lanes of traffic and every morning there is at least one instance of the entire three lanes locked because three donkeys sit across the road doing 40km causing unnecessary delays for ppl going about their business. The speed limit is 70. Stay to the left.

Its much different on the ground. Real faces, real challenges that require real work. I cant thank our NGO teams enough for the exemplary work being done to reach our most vulnerable and marooned communities in Western Jamaica. Hearing from the people, hope is alive. Relief is being received but greater calls are being made for them to be seen and heard. I urge volunteers and workers that when you go out to give… Also give a listening ear. When you meet, ask the needs that are left unmet. And if you must capture, capture the moments that will encourage others to do the same. #HurricaneMelissa

Not even the official shelters were provided for. No restocking of supplies, no security, no generator for Petersfield??? What were the logistical plans for the shelters? ODPEM is a joke.
