صوبائی کابینہ کے 30 ویں اجلاس میں وزیراعلی مریم نواز نے بوجھ بڑھانے کی ہر تجویز سختی سے مسترد کر دی، الیکٹرو بسوں کے کرایوں میں اضافہ نہ کرنے کا فیصلہ عوامی ریلیف کی ضمانت ہے، تعلیم، زراعت میں جدید ٹیکنالوجی کا فروغ اور پنجاب میں انتہا پسندی کے لیے کوئی گنجائش نہیں۔

These "Smog Guns" have become quite famous lately, we imported these from China and they are used worldwide. India alone has 368 in Delhi. They help clear visibility and reduce haze by suspending particles in the air. Every citizen of Lahore is a partner in the fight against smog. The government can make policies, legislate, monitor, and enforce but real change depends on citizens. This is a shared responsibility.

فروری مارچ میں جب ہماری گورنمنٹ آئی تو ہم نے پہلی میٹنگ کی سموگ پر تو کہا گیا کہ اتنی جلدی اس پر کیوں میٹنگ کی جارہی ہے تو انہیں سمجھا کہ اے کیو آئی جو ہے وہ سارا سال چلنے والا عمل ہے جبکہ سموگ سیزنل ایشو ہے، پہلی مرتبہ ہم نے وزیراعلی پنجاب مریم نواز کے ویژن پر عمل کرتے ہوئے سموگ کے خلاف حکمت عملی کیلئے پلاننگ اینڈ ڈویلپمنٹ میں ملٹی سیکٹورل سیل قائم کیا۔

سب سے پہلے ہمیں ایک فورس چاہئے تھی ملٹی سیکٹورل میں کام کرنے کیلئے جس میں انڈسٹری وہیکلز، کنسٹرکشن، بھٹے اور سٹبل برننگ جیسے عناصر ہیں جو سموگ کا باعث بنتے ہیں، وزیراعلی پنجاب مریم نواز کے ویژن پر عمل کرتے ہوئے ہم نے ایک انوائرمنٹ پروٹیکشن فورس بنائی انہیں ہر طرح کی جدید ٹیکنالوجی سے لیس کیا اور میں بڑے وثوق سے کہہ سکتی ہوں کہ یہ کسی بھی ڈویلپ کنٹری جیسی ہماری یہ فورس ہے

A few days ago, a media report claimed that the Punjab government was under fire for manipulating data. I was surprised-our public portal shows real-time data from our own forecasting system. Those who want to manipulate data don’t install 41 or 100 AQI monitors, they use just a few non-functional ones. The site was briefly down due to a technical glitch, which we clarified immediately. The claim is baseless-AQI wasn’t even high then. We’re sharing all smog and AQI data with full transparency.

According to SUPARCO data, stubble burning has been reduced by an impressive 65% this year compared to last year. This progress was achieved after nearly 40 lakh acres of rice fields were harvested out of a total of 64 lakh acres. The success comes from introducing technology and mechanization to farmers, which not only helped them clear stubble efficiently but also increased crop yields, reduced fuel costs, and allowed earlier rice planting. Though some burning still continues, this 65% reduction in less than a year is a remarkable achievement by farmers and the Agriculture Department.

دو تین پہلے میڈیا پر رپورٹ ہوا کہ حکومت اے کیو آئی پر ڈیٹا چھپا رہی ہے ہیر پھیر کر رہی ہے جبکہ ایسا کچھ نہیں، کیونکہ جنہوں نے ڈیٹا مینوپلیٹ کرنا ہوتا ہے وہ 3 نان فنکشنل مانیٹرز سے 41 فنکشنل ایئر کوالٹی مانیٹر نہ لگاتے جو 100 تک جائیں گے، حکومتی پورٹل صرف تکنیکی خرابی کے باعث 3 گھنٹے بند رہا جس کا مینشن بھی کیا گیا، پنجاب حکومت سموگ اور AQI سے متعلق معلومات مکمل شفافیت کے ساتھ عوام تک پہنچا رہی ہے۔

Once at an international meeting , I presented an online Environmental Monitoring System connecting five cities. The delegate from a neighboring country asked me, do we have online solutions. So data is essential to plan solutions with long-term actions. The GO Punjab is on it.

I wonder why certain experts want quick fixes when it comes to addressing smog . Why can't they realize that smog is a complex phenomenon and there is no quick fix. It requires long-term actions . Please be part of the solution not the problem.

To protect public health, we launched the AQI Punjab App, an online portal, and a WhatsApp chatbot to ensure citizens have real-time access to air quality updates. School timings were also adjusted to minimize exposure during peak smog hours. With the support of modern technology, Al, and machine learning, we're creating smarter systems for air quality management. However, true progress depends on collective action as every citizen must embrace cleaner, more responsible habits to ensure a sustainable, healthy future for Punjab.

The EPA rules were revised, and mobile fuel testing vehicles were deployed in Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi to monitor petrol quality across four key parameters. These teams now have the authority to seal non-compliant fuel pumps.

In March 2024, after receiving severe public feedback on the worsening smog situation, the Chief Minister instructed me to do whatever it takes to protect citizens. We immediately convened the first review meeting to identify the root causes of the smog. Despite early challenges and limited resources, we managed to collect data to determine which industries contribute most to hazardous emissions.

Smog is a toxic haze caused by suspended pollutants like PM2.5 and PM10. To tackle this, we introduced the Anti-Smog Gun. A localized, high-tech solution based on the principle of artificial rain. It sprays a fine mist with powerful pressure, simulating rainfall that forces harmful particles to settle. The result: cleaner air, clearer skies, and a measurable improvement in the AQI.

Climate change isn’t just an environmental issue-it’s a multi-sectoral challenge. When we took charge, Punjab had zero smog monitoring system and only three non-functional air quality monitors since 2007. The first step we took was installing 41 new monitors across Punjab and by June 2026, we’ll have 100. Our entire forecasting system now runs on this real-time data.

ملٹی سیکٹورل اسکواڈ جو 24/7 شفٹ میں کام کرتا ہے سموگ کا باعث بننے والے ہر سیکٹر کیلئے الگ الگ ڈیوٹیز ہیں انکے پاس الیکٹرک بائیکس ہیں ان میں جی پی ایس سسٹم لگا ہوا ہے اور ٹریکنگ کا مربوط نظام ہے اگر کہیں سے کوئی شکایت آتی ہے تو فوراً رسپانڈ کیا جاتا ہے، اسکے علاوہ 41 اے کیو آئی مانیٹرنگ اسٹیشن ہیں جو لمحہ بہ لمحہ فورکاسٹنگ دیتے ہیں اس کے مطابق ہم اپنے پلان کرتے ہیں پہلے تو ہمارے پاس کوئی نظام ہی موجود نہیں تھا مانیٹرنگ کا۔

گزشتہ سال 2024 میں پورے سال میں صرف 18 دن ایئر کوالٹی کا معیار بہتر رہا اور اس رواں سال صرف اکتوبر کے مہینے میں 16 دن بہتر رہے، پچھلے سال ہم نے اکتوبر میں مرحلہ وار سکول کالجز بند کر دیئے تھے آوٹ ڈور ایکٹویٹی بند کر دی تھی، اے کیو آئی لیول جو اکتوبر میں 2000 کو ٹچ کر رہا تھا اس پر صورتحال بہت بہتر ہے، بیجنگ کی بات کرتے ہیں اسے دس سال لگے ہمیں بھی آگے دس سال درکار ہیں سموگ لیول کو درست کرنے میں ہم تمام ٹیکنالوجی استعمال کر رہے ہیں فنڈز فراہم کر رہے ہیں لیکن لوگوں کو خود بھی ان ایس او پیز پر عمل کرنا ہوگا
