The "Vande Mataram Glory Festival" was inaugurated in Pune by Partha Chatterjee, a descendant of Rishi Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, the composer of the national hymn "Vande Mataram".
The event marked the 150th anniversary (on 31 October 2025, Kartik Shuddha Navami) of the creation of "Vande Mataram".
It was organized jointly by MES Senior College, Vande Mataram 150 Sardh Shati Committee, Panchaajanya Foundation, and Janmada pratishthan at MES Auditorium, Kothrud.
Air Marshal Bhushan Gokhale (Retd.) chaired the program, with guests including Makarand Kelkar of janmada , Dr. Ravindra Vaidya Sir of MES senior college, Milind Sabnis of Sardh shati committee and Sameer Kulkarni of Panchaajanya Foundation.
Chatterjee highlighted that the hymn revived IndiaтАЩs ancient culture of mother worship and inspired everyoneтАФfrom youth to revolutionariesтАФto rise against foreign rule. He affirmed that Vande Mataram holds an unshakable place in the hearts of Indians.
In his address, Gokhale noted the shared revolutionary traditions of Bengal and Maharashtra, observing that "Vande Mataram" united Indians before and after independence.
The event began with a Saraswati Vandana followed by a performance of тАЬBhuMata StotraтАЭ
A special audiovisual presentation titled тАЬVande Mataram 150тАЭ depicted the songтАЩs journey.
