(Have Grok process this for fast uptake)
The largest debate I can see is related to the further subordination of
@SpaceX to the National Narrative.
-Are we talking about humanity or are we talking about America?
-Are the largest players interested in personal profits or ultimate sustainability of the species?
In its current form, SpaceX stands as a private company (in the eyes of the authorities that it operates under 🇺🇸💵).
This means that its values need only conform to the burocratic silliness that provide it legitimacy. These bureaucracies are notoriously easy to manipulate because of the memetic power dynamics they operate under and provide a buffer from the real power which is the Mob (see Tacitus)
This buffer is one of memetic power. That is, it is powerfull because it has a lot of people who believe it.
This is where things get a bit messy…
If
@SpaceX puts themself in the public forum, it runs the potential of causing disruption in the establishment. This usually causes disorganization and the ultimate collapse of the governing system (see every government and empire… ever).
I don’t however, just mean the establishment of the company… Because of the logistical nature of SpaceX (and literally all of
@elonmusk’s companies), this little industrial complex could (will) profoundly shift the perspective of what government is and does.
— the meek shall inherit the Earth —
… but the rich shall inherit the Cosmos…
Elon often points at Ian Banks as a reference for his vision of the future. In this series, the most powerful organization that exists is called “The Culture”. They are effectively the government of a cosmic empire but the distinction between the population and the governors are less stark. You could say that the governed are happy or not because they have been assimilated well into a highly conformed system. (imagine having a prosthetic leg, but it isn’t made for your species. you would need to adapt and discover new capabilities or not adapt and hold onto perceived impediments)
In summary, the efforts of SpaceX are currently limited to very tired, tropes of profit and loss. The rotting corpse of America has pearls for eyes but it has forgotten the cries of goals and the deep sea swells. As we consider the drown Phoenician (alagory for trade), we must look to windward and ask ourselves, do we abandon ship to salvage those pearls or sail on. Phlebas was also once tall and handsome as you 😬… but he is a corps. (I implore you!) Look to windward.
