🌍Europe’s energy future doesn’t need new corridors – just smarter connections

@TimchenkoMaxim shared how Ukraine is at the centre of Europe’s energy security and building the links that could redefine its future.
While 16 billion cubic metres of russian gas still flow into Europe each year, Ukraine is proving that the solution lies not in building new corridors, but in uniting existing ones around its strategic assets including gas storage, interconnections with Europe, and LNG.
Speaking on the "Corridors of Power: How Natural Gas is Redrawing Europe's Energy Map" panel, Maxim outlined how DTEK became the first Ukrainian company to use the vertical gas corridor, bringing LNG from the United States, with another cargo arriving through Lithuania.
"National security depends on energy security. From my experience in Ukraine, national security on the European continent is under threat – not only by the fact russians already have their drones flying above European countries, but by the fact 16 bcm of gas is still coming to the region from russia. This is a threat we all should not underestimate."
Ukraine has the largest underground gas storage in Europe. With this asset, combined with proven LNG delivery routes, Ukraine could become the continent’s energy backbone.
