VODACOM AND MAKATE REACH A DEAL Vodacom has finally reached a confidential settlement with Kenneth Makate, ending their two-decade-long legal battle over the “Please Call Me” invention. The telecom giant confirmed that both parties have agreed to withdraw all court actions, marking the end of one of South Africa’s most publicised corporate disputes. While the settlement amount remains undisclosed, Vodacom said it will be reflected in its interim results for the period ending September 2025.

Vodacom’s interim results for the six month period ended 30 September 2025* will tell a story. The settlement amount on the PleaseCallMe matter has been accounted for in those results. *Interim results are expected to be released on SENS on or about 10 November 2025.
