Just about every NYPD cop I’ve spoken to has told me they’re putting their papers in to leave. They’re not about to stay in a city where the mayor, and the people who elected him, openly hates them. It’s cool, though… when you’re getting assaulted, robbed, or raped, a social worker or “violence interrupter” is going to show up and make everything alright. Elections have consequences and you’re about to get a major consequence.

Dear Rep. McGovern, YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT - there IS a special place reserved for people who hurt hungry children. And right now, that place is being filled by YOUR Democratic colleagues who've voted FOURTEEN TIMES to keep the government shut down! We just had a FATAL AIRCRAFT CRASH, and YOUR party CONTINUES voting against paying air traffic controllers. That blood is on YOUR hands. You're fighting to extend temporary COVID subsidies while LITERAL PLANES ARE FALLING FROM THE SKY. But sure, let's talk about YOUR moral outrage, shall we? Your buddy Chuck Schumer had some INTERESTING thoughts about shutdowns before he discovered political convenience: "Shutdowns are self-defeating." (2019) "We don't govern by temper tantrum... we'd be hurting millions of Americans and treating them as leverage." (2018) Remember THAT wisdom, Chuck? Because RIGHT NOW you're holding military families, air traffic controllers, and federal workers hostage while demanding $1.5 TRILLION in NEW SPENDING! Let me paint you a picture of what $1.5 trillion looks like, since you clearly don't grasp numbers that big: If you stacked one-dollar bills, they'd reach 102,000 MILES HIGH - that's 408 TIMES TALLER THAN MOUNT EVEREST. Laid end-to-end, those bills would wrap around Earth's equator 5,884 TIMES. That's adding $18,750 in DEBT to EVERY SINGLE TAXPAYER! But here's what REALLY gets me about your theatrical moral posturing: There's a NO-STRINGS-ATTACHED CLEAN CR sitting RIGHT THERE! Republicans are gaining NOTHING from it! YOU could end this TODAY and still come out ahead! Instead, YOU'RE demanding to extend temporary COVID relief that costs nearly $20,000 PER TAXPAYER! YOUR excuse that people will pay more for Obamacare is HILARIOUS and telling. You're essentially admitting Obamacare is REALLY expensive without COVID relief, while simultaneously arguing that when the relief ends, prices will go up. Would YOU go to YOUR boss and say, "Last month you gave me a $1,000 Christmas bonus, so this month you cut my pay by $1,000 - do you not have a heart? You're taking away from my family by not giving me the same extra $1,000 you did last month!" That's EXACTLY your logic, and it's about as sharp as a bowling ball! Here's what YOUR shutdown is ACTUALLY doing: - Active-duty military missing paychecks (first time in modern history!) - Air traffic controllers working WITHOUT PAY while planes crash - Federal workers' families struggling to buy groceries - TSA agents calling in sick, creating travel chaos And ALL OF THIS so you can demand taxpayers fund healthcare subsidies that were SUPPOSED to be TEMPORARY COVID relief! Let me educate you on something called QUINN'S FIRST LAW OF LIBERALISM: "Liberalism always generates the exact opposite of its stated intent." YOU claim to care about hungry children while YOUR votes are literally preventing paychecks for military families with hungry kids at home! Article I, Section 7 of the Constitution gives CONGRESS - that's YOU, Representative - the power of the purse! YOU control spending! YOUR party controlled the White House, Senate, AND House for two years under Biden. If these ACA subsidies were SO CRITICAL, why didn't YOU make them permanent THEN? Oh right - because they were TEMPORARY COVID RELIEF, and extending them permanently was NEVER the plan until you discovered you could use them as political leverage! You want to talk about hungry children? Let's talk about the MILITARY FAMILIES with hungry children RIGHT NOW because YOUR party won't pass a clean CR! Let's talk about federal workers' kids going without because YOU'RE holding their parents' paychecks hostage for $1.5 TRILLION in demands! And here's the REALLY sick part: You're doing EXACTLY what Schumer condemned Republicans for in 2013 when they tried blocking the ACA through shutdown tactics. The difference? At LEAST those Republicans were trying to STOP massive new spending, not DEMAND it!
